Research project "Your City" investigated youth preferences and engagement in urban planning in various age groups and regions, highlighting desires for open youth centers, biking infrastructure, and community involvement. Findings show low consultation rates with policy makers, with a preference for politicians visiting schools or youth centers for decision-making involvement. Participants expressed readiness to assist city planners, emphasizing the importance of understanding urban planning processes and effective communication with decision makers.

Recommendations 1 FOR POLICY MAKERS: FOR YOUNGSTERS: visit youth organisations / schools and hold open discussions there not to shy away when asking their schools / youth centres to organise policy makers visits research rather than intuition (as a tool for policy planning) should be used more often choose an existing practice & adapt it to fit their needs & surroundings
Recommendations 2 FOR FUTURE RESEARCH: FOR THE MEETING: be more area specific focus not on teaching the youth how to communicate with policy makers, but how to make viable urban planning propositions research not only the young, but also people in decision making institutions/government set guidelines for future youth involvement
