Regional workshop on International Merchandise Trade Statistics (IMTS) will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador from October 23-25, 2023. The workshop will focus on compliance with quantity information, availability of net weight and quantity data, extreme values, data processing in COMTRADE and Copra+, and quantity unit codes. Insights from the 2022 annual data processed so far indicate differences in reporting quantity information among countries, with Belize being the only Central American country reporting quantity data. The session will also cover extreme quantity and net weight estimation, highlighting records and estimations in various countries.

COMTRADE AND ANNUAL DATA PROCESSING IN COPRA+ Total number of records in COMTRADE is tens of bn, tens of thousands datasets, over 200 countries or areas, spanning from1962 to present Copra+: the data processing system of UNSD trade statistics. Data processed and released Jan-September ~ 4,600 datasets

  4. AVAILABILITY OF NET WEIGHT AND QUANTITY Information based on 2022 annual data processed so far 139 country datasets reported. All countries reported net weight Twenty-nine (21%) didn t report quantity Only Belize reported quantity information in Central American region
