Why? -on average jail DHS staff conduct 8 ECO s per month -on average ACDF admits 10-12 individuals to state hospitals per month -time spent at state hospitals ranges from 30 to 90 days on average - for one client to be admitted to a state hospital for 30 days = approximately $42,330 -state hospital discharge planner caseload on average between 30-50 -significant success with new FDP positions, growing concerns over ECO recidivism & number of admits to state hospitals - merging PBMP and FDP, to create new pilot program

5. Where does EIP fall? Post Booking Magistrate Project Early Intercept Project Bond Diversion Competency Restoration FDP Re-Entry & Hospital Discharge Planner

6. How? Client is assessed to be SMI by jail DHS staff & referred to EIP staff Client is booked in on low level, lifestyle charges Client attends court & assigned attorney EIP staff consults with defense and CA regarding eligibility for an ECO Client is placed on the docket for bond with an ECO

7. How? Emergency Services conducts bed search and obtains TDO EIP staff attends civil commitment hearing to provide testimony EIP staff attends court & completes prescreen EIP staff EIP staff remains connected to client in the community post-hospitalization coordinates with hospital for discharge planning
