Guidelines for Places of Worship in Montgomery County

Montgomery County welcomes and supports interfaith and multicultural communities along with their places of worship. Places of worship can be located in all zones in the county but must comply with commercial codes and standards. They need to obtain a Use & Occupancy Certificate prior to operating and follow design and construction requirements. The county's Department of Permitting Services offers a Case Management Program to help address codes and regulations. Various agencies must approve the building permits, ensuring compliance with zoning, safety, and environmental standards.
