Current Project Opportunities Improve outcomes for Substance Exposed Newborns and their Families Project: Assist the Substance Exposed Newborns (SEN) team to implement improvements in the Department s response to SEN. 1. Program implementation: Develop a training manual for Plans of Safe Care (PoSC)for Hospitals to utilize, work with hospitals and community partners to implement PoSC 2. Epi and Evaluation: Developing and implementing better electronic data capture for Plans of Safe Care within RI s child health information system. Student Role: Take the lead on writing the manual for implementing PoSC and work with the 5 birthing hospitals on implementation and data collection. Assist SEN team to determine data needs and how to capture, analyze and report on data. Goal: Statewide implementation and evaluation of Plans of Safe Care with evaluation component. Student will: Gain experience in subject of SEN & program and evaluation design
Current Project Opportunities WIC and Family Home Visiting: Putting Theory into Practice Project: Support WIC and Family Home Visiting to align and coordinate. 1. Work with both state teams and local community agencies to implement new shared performance measures 2. Develop bi-directional referral processes between programs to support families to access comprehensive services Support monthly data collection and reporting on both components with internal and external partners and develop plans for improvement if relevant Student Role: Lead the plan to collect, input and assess shared performance measures, work with community partners on improvement where needed. Lead development and monitoring of bi-directional referral process Goal: Better alignment of programs for families with young children Student will: Gain practical experience in program implementation and measurement. Understand challenges and successes of moving from concept to implementation.
