5. Let's look at some examples... Joan likes eggs; Lisa does not. The cat slept through the storm; the dog cowered under the bed. We have used a semi colon in these sentences as it replaces coordinating conjunctions such as but/and.

6. Where should the semi colon go in these sentences? I have finished the main course now I need to make the dessert. dessert. I have finished the main course; now I need to make the She didn't see the car coming now it has a huge dent in it. She didn't see the car coming; now it has a huge dent in it. He calls it the bathroom I call it the loo. He calls it the bathroom; I call it the loo.
