  2. ABOUT OLHSA Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) is a Community Action Agency, formed in 1964, as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty. We assist Oakland and Livingston County residents that are looking for support to remove the burdens of poverty by providing individually tailored, wrap-around services for all household in need of help. OLHSA employees strive for excellence, respect others, and honor diversity. We partner with community members and local organizations toprovide more of an impact in our community work. National Community Action Partnership Member OLHSA is a member of a national network of Community Action Agencies (CAA) that work with individuals, families, and communities to reduce the causes and conditions of poverty. For over 50 years this national network of 1,000 CAAs has worked to make our communities a better place to live. 2

  7. SERVICES FOR OLDER ADULTS Resource Advocacy: Our Senior Advocacy Coordinators complete applications for seniors 60 and older for: Bridge Cards, State Emergency Relief, LIS and MSP and connect seniors to other resources 7

  10. Community Partners Continued Senior Regional Collaborative: The SRC was established in 2008 and has over 45 member organizations in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties. Mission Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers in the region through capacity building and strategic leadership. https://www.semisrc.org/ 10

Community Partners Continued Livingston County Consortium on Aging The Livingston County Consortium on Aging provides for collaboration, advocacy and communication between agencies and persons concerned with the provision of services to all aging adults. They host a Caregiver Fair and 6 senior celebrations each year and use the funds raised to provide small grants to Livingston County non-profits. http://www.livingstoncoa.org/ 11

  12. Community Partners Continued Livingston Leadership Council on Aging The Livingston Leadership Council on Aging was established in 2008 in direct response to the 2008 Senior Needs Assessment. Mission Develop a plan and ongoing strategies to meet the needs of the older adult population in Livingston County. 12

  13. Board of Directors Election OLHSA's Board of Directors is a 21-member policy making body. 1/3 of the Board ismade up of Community representatives. Every two years, voting takes place for7 voting seats and 7 replacements. Five seats in Oakland County are from the following categories. Senior Citizens, Multi-Cultural, Housing, Health/Nutrition/Disabled, andYouth Head Start Policy Council and Livingston County hold their own elections for consumer sector voting seats and replacements. 13

  14. ADVOCACY COMMITTEES The following groups participate in the OLHSA Board of Directors Elections for the community representatives. ADVOCACY COMMITTEES Take positions on advocacy issues and contact local, state, and federal elected officials about these issues Hear presentations on a variety of topics and programs and bringthat information back to their communities Network with other committee members and learn about what resources and needs are in their respective communities. Reportto the OLHSA Board on issues and needs of the specific communities New Members are always needed and welcome for these committees. 15
