2022 Shalom Grove Christmas Series (2) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders (Isaiah 9:6)
Wonderful Prince of Peace Counselor Who is Jesus? For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6, NKJV) Everlasting Father Mighty God Wonderful Counselor
Wonderful Incomprehensible, supernatural (full of wonder) A Child is born, a Son is given (Isaiah 9:6) Pala: Beyond human powers or expectations (70 times appeared in the OT) And the Angel of the LORD said to him, Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful (beyond your understanding)? (Judge 13:18, NKJV) The chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did (Matthew 21:15a) This is the Lord s doing, and it is wonderful to see (Psalm 118:23) Is anything too hard (pala) for the Lord? (Genesis 18:14) You are beautiful beyond descrition
Counselor Counselor A king s adviser; a wise man who gives guidance to a king (people) From all nations people came to listen to Solomon s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom (1 Kings 4:34) Jesus is a wise counselor He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person (John 2:25) In Christ is hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3) You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar (Psalm 139:1-2). Nicodemus, the woman at the well, the paralyzed man by the pool
Jesus is Wonderful + Counselor Jesus is the Wonderful Counselor because He is God, the source of truth. When He rules the earth, there will be no uncertainty in his administration. He is the ultimate and only true answer For those who accept Jesus' as their Messiah we can personally seek Him to help guide us in our everyday lives. Christ is the source of all truth. Jesus said, I am the way, and the truth, and the life (John 14:6) The Holy Spirit (Counselor, Advocate, Parakletos) I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever, the Spirit of truth The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you (John 14:16, 26)
Jesus is our Wonderful, Counselor today Jesus gives us the strengths to take action When we are in deep trouble, Jesus tells us what action to take and gives us the strength to do it. Jesus knows all things God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. Jesus can make all things new. Jesus is always available His name is Immanuel His name is Wonderful, Counselor In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:6) Wonderful Listen to Him Seek His counsel Wisdom Power Follow His direction Counselor
