India's energy landscape heavily relies on coal, with significant contributions to energy consumption and electricity generation. The country aims to increase coal production by exploring and proving new reserves. With targeted enhancements in coal-bearing areas and reserves, the coal sector in India is poised for growth in the coming years, as reflected in production projections and demand-supply scenarios.

  22. CONCLUSION CONCLUSION The shift in the demand-mix for energy has tilted the scales away from coal though it is likely to maintain center stage till about 2040. With its vast expanse and expertise in this field, CIL will have to shoulder a major responsibility in meeting the coal demand and eliminating coal imports. It has already set-up its road map for enhancing production till 2025-26. Future production programs will be tuned to meeting the coal demand with the aim of eliminating or minimizing coal imports.

  23. CONCLUSION CONCLUSION Though much of the identification of coal mining projects for meeting production projections has already been done, and project planning is in place, opening these coal projects and bringing them up to their targeted level of production entails concerted efforts in overcoming the inherent constraints. Active participation and assistance will be necessary from all stakeholders in overcoming these constraints, including Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Environment and Forests and Ministry of Railways. Under the visionary leadership of Hon ble Prime Minister, and with the dynamic leadership provided by Hon ble Minister of Coal, CIL is optimistic about meeting and exceeding the expectations of its customers and the country.
