The Governance and Ethics Committee led by Flavia Bustreo is driving significant improvements in the governance structure of PMNCH. The progress made so far includes enhanced transparency, broader participation, and greater effectiveness in roles. Main priorities through October-December include addressing age cut-offs for leadership positions and developing tools for good governance and management. The development of a Governance Manual is also underway to consolidate important documents and guidelines. These efforts aim to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in PMNCH's governance and management.

  2. Governance and Ethics Committee Deliverables: 2.4 Inclusive participation of partners in PMNCH structures

Progress to date and major priorities to the end of 2022 Light Touch Assessment: objective is to identify the extent to which the PMNCH Governance Reform is meeting its intended goals, and to identify areas where course correction is needed Updates Phase 1 on schedule and almost completed. Final report to be shared with GEC at December meeting Phase 2 methodology and approach currently being developed and expect to be finalized end of October Preliminary findings PMNCH governance has new energy, broader participation, greater clarity of roles, and is already proving to be more effective The nominations processes for identifying partner leadership is more inclusive and transparent, and has elevated the professionalism of PMNCH Greater visibility and participation of young people, especially in leadership positions The age cut-off at 30 years old for young leaders precludes ongoing participation causing frequent transitions before young leaders finish their three-year term High secretariat workload Priorities going forward October-November: Consultations with the AYC on the age cut-off at 30 y/o and mechanisms to put in place to encourage adolescents and young people under 25 y/o to apply for leadership positions. December: Final Phase 1 report to be submitted for approval to GEC

Progress to date and major priorities to the end of 2022 Good Governance and Good Management: objective is to enable PMNCH to obtain more diversity, equity and inclusion in its governance and management Updates In order to streamline the PMNCH structures, the GEC agreed to merge the Good Governance & Management Working Group with the Light Touch Assessment Working Group Main findings Good Governance: high levels of transparency and accountability were reported. Areas such as organizational communications can benefit from being improved. Good Management: respondents reported high levels of strategic alignment and trust, but areas such as Secretariat workload and role clarity need to be improved. Priorities going forward October-December: development of recommendations are currently underway and will focus on developing tools such as Good Governance induction courses, training and development of policies such as Codes of Conduct , PMNCH Value Charter etc.

Progress to date and major priorities to the end of 2022 Governance Manual Updates The GEC has worked on the development of the Governance Manual which compiles the different documents and Terms of References developed and approved by the GEC and EC during the Governance Reform. This include the Terms of Reference of all PMNCH Structures and leadership positions within these, the membership onboarding process and guidelines document and the governance leaders and members transition guidelines. The Governance Manual will be a living document, and available on the website only Priorities going forward October to December: Development of the policies section (e.g. diversity, inclusion and ethics policies) in line with Good Governance work January 2023 onwards: Outputs from Light Touch Assessment Phases 1 and 2 and Good Governance + Good Management Work will be weaved into Governance Manual to reflect the important results of these pieces of work.
