INDUCTION PROGRAMME
2018-2019
Computer science and Engineering

LOK NAYAK JAI PRAKASH INSTITUTE
OF TECHNOLOGY,Chapra

Why Induction??

It has been observed that engineering students these days are oriented
towards engineering skills only, lagging ethics in engineering
It leads to unprofessional behaviour of students, which causes terrible
problems in real life.
It has been also observed that some students are not aware of ICT, which
gradually drags them in some tech areas.
The Induction Program is designed to make the newly joined students feel
comfortable, sensitize them towards exploring their academic interests and
activities, reducing competition and making them work for excellence,
promote
bonding
within them, build relations between teachers and
students.

Cont
.

Induction programme aims to induce professional and social ethics among
engineering brains.
For students, who comes from rural area, Induction Programme aims to
introduces new techniques of education like MOOCs, NPTEL,SWAYAM and other
ICT mode.

Specifics of INDUCTION in computer
science ENGINERRING

It has been observed that students in our college are lack of awareness
computer science basic language and its functionalities.
So some lecture are planned on basics principles of computer knowledge, with
objective to explain their significance in computer science engineering.
They should be told about what getting into a branch or department means
what role it plays in society, through its technology.
They should also be shown the laboratories, workshops & other facilities.

Cont

The following are the activities under the induction program in which the student would
be fully engaged throughout the day for the entire duration of the program:

1) Physical Activity
This would involve a daily routine of physical activity with games and sports. It would start
with all students coming to the field at 6 am for light physical exercise or yoga.
There would also be games in the evening or at other suitable times according to the local
climate.

2) Creative Arts
Every student would chose one skill related to the arts whether visual arts or performing
arts. Examples are painting, sculpture, pottery, music, dance etc.
It would develop a sense of aesthetics and also enhance creativity which would, hopefully,
flow into engineering design later.

Cont

3) Universal Human Values
It gets the student to explore oneself and allows one to experience the joy of
learning, stand up to peer pressure, take decisions with courage, be aware of
relationships with colleagues and supporting staff in the hostel and
department, be sensitive to others, etc.

4) Literary
Literary activity would encompass reading, writing and possibly, debating,
enacting a play etc.

5) Proficiency Modules
This period can be used to overcome some critical lacunas that students
might have, for example, English, computer familiarity etc.

Cont

6) Lectures by Eminent People
This period can be utilized for lectures by eminent people, say, once a week.
It would give the students exposure to people who are socially active or in
public life.

7) Visits to Local Area
A couple of visits to the landmarks of the city, or a hospital or orphanage
could be organized.

8) Familiarization to Dept./Branch & Innovations
They should be told about what getting into a branch or department means
what role it plays in society, through its technology.

DIGITAL LEARNING

It has been observed that students are unaware of new techniques of
learning, which hinders them from being updated and advance.
In this Regard, students were demonstrated about MOOCs, NPTEL, SWAYAM
and other online modes.
This demonstration also aimed to bring students closer to new technology and
learning through technology.
Students were also advised to take courses right from beginning of the B-
TECH.

OPPORTUNITY IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
ENGINEERING

It has been observed that students are not aware of various opportunity in
computer science engineering.
In this regard, lectures were conducted, and explained about various coding
competition Like HACKATHON, GATE,PSUs , Startup, PSCs, MBA,GRE etc exam
and their importance.
It was focussed that students are should
choose
 their carrier according to
their strength and interest.
It was also explained that what sort of efforts are required to various field
and what kind of support system are provided by the college and the
government.

Engineering students are often focused on technical skills, sometimes neglecting ethical considerations. Induction programs aim to address this issue by instilling values and ethics in engineering education at LOK NAYAK JAI PRAKASH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, Chapra. These programs help students develop a holistic understanding of their roles as future engineers.
