  2. This is one way to work out the perimeter of a shape.

  3. Answers 1) 12cm 2) 12cm 3) 14cm 4)16cm

  4. Here is another way of finding the perimeter of a 2d shape this is especially important as you may not always have squares to count.

  5. Can you name these shapes and work out their perimeter using the measurements given? Answers Red square = 16cm Green triangle = 29cm Orange rectangle = 20cm Yellow square = 48cm

  6. And these ones? Answers Blue hexagon = 42cm Red octagon =72cm

  7. Sometimes you may need to work out the perimeter of an irregular shape or a shape with a missing measurement like the one below. To work out the perimeter of an irregular shape you need to carefully add up the lengths of all the sides. Look closely to see how you would work out what the length of a missing side is.

  8. Answers Red shape = 32cm Green shape = 98cm Purple shape = 148cm

  9. Can you solve these perimeter word problems? Answers 1) 36cm 2) 16cm 3) 76cm
