  1. Course Information: Health & Social Care The BTEC Health & Social Care course will help you on your first steps into a career in Health & Social Care. The qualification will make you think and empathise with people and real-life situations. We delve deeply into the growth and development of people from babies to adults and all the factors that can affect this along the way. You will have to be willing to consider, think and discuss. You will have to meet deadlines and write at length. This is a very rewarding and interesting course if you are willing to put the effort in.   2. Assessment: Health & Social Care What will I learn? Component 1 Human Lifespan Development In this component you will look at the way in which humans develop throughout their lifespan (PIES) and how certain factors may affect impact on their development. This unit is internally assessed and is made up of an assignment comprising of 4 written tasks. Component 2 Health and Social Care Services and Values In this component you will research how health and social care values underpin the delivery of care and how the values are used to promote effective caring for service users. This component is internally assessed and is made up of an assignment comprising of 5 written tasks. Component 3 Health and Well Being In this externally set assessment learners are required to assess an individual s health and wellbeing and use this assessment to create a health and wellbeing improvement plan. Dos and Don'ts: Health & Social Care Do s Don'ts Pick this course if you have a keen interest in the development and growth of people Pick this course because you get on with the Teacher Pick this course if you want to develop your discussion and collaborative skills you will be expected to give your opinion in front of others Don t pick this course just because you might have a group of friends that will be picking it Pick this course if you have aspirations of working in the NHS or Social Care. Pick this course if you think there is nothing else you fancy doing. Pick this course if you are willing to put the effort in, in class and at home. Pick this course as you think it is easy There are NO easy courses! There is a lot of writing involved and a 2-hour exam. Beyond Heritage: Health & Social Care Life/Employability Skills Further Education Potential Career Pathways Team-work You will develop a range of communication skills, which will help you to work alongside others. Include BTEC Health & Social Care Level 3 courses in preparation and acceptance for University Degree Course's or Apprenticeships. Healthcare work, including: clinical support staff, allied health professionals, such as radiographers, midwives, paramedics; specialist therapy staff, such as occupational therapists, speech therapists and art therapists. Organisation & Time management You ll need to be able to prioritize work and meet strict deadlines while also achieving the course criteria, this is relevant within the Health & Social Care system The NHS are now offering many routes into the NHS via apprenticeships so you can work and train alongside each other. Empathy We will discuss sensitive issues so you will have to develop and understanding of how to be empathetic to others. This ranges from organising yourself, being on time, to being responsible. Some jobs need particular discipline skills such as being able to persevere with the task and plans until you accomplish them.
