Why study languages at GCSE?
What is the GCSE like? Topics include: family, social media, music, cinema, sport, volunteer work, environment, poverty, travel and tourism, festivals, culture, school, college and work Improve your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills Short, simple exams some are even multiple choice! BCC gets really good results in 2018 we had pass rates of 100% for French and 78% for Spanish. In 2019 we did even better 91% got a pass grade 4-9 and 35% of MFL students got at least a 7. Best results in the school and better than the national average!

University many now require a GCSE language for any course Jobs even those not languages related Can raise your salary by 8-20% Increase brain capacity, less risk of Alzheimer's, better memory Not everyone speaks English! What jobs can you get by learning languages? Any job you like Higher salary Work abroad It s quicker, cheaper and easier for companies to train someone to do a specific job than it is to teach them a language if you already have a language you re more likely to get hired!

Charlotte, 23 English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher and private tutor in Valencia, Spain. I teach English to children and adults in a language school. You don t have to know fluent Spanish to work here but it helps. I explain different words and phrases in English to Spanish people, and its often easier to refer to Spanish to help them understand

I didn t know much Spanish before I went so I had to learn in the few months beforehand but knowing the language made everything so much easier. I ve now bee offered the job at the same university for when I finish my PhD!
