Today's celebration of the Eucharist focuses on Catholic Education Week and emphasizes the call to love as people of mercy. Reflecting on the Acts of the Apostles passage, we are reminded of God's omnipotence and our identity as His offspring, called to seek and worship Him without idolatry. This service invites us to embody the mercy and love of Jesus, becoming agents of transformation and justice as Easter people. Join in hymns, readings, and prayers that inspire us to build the Kingdom of God through acts of mercy and love.

  1. Celebration of the Eucharist Wednesday, May 08, 2024 Catholic Education Week

  2. Greeting and Welcome Called to Love as People of Mercy Today celebrate the gift of Catholic Education and we reflect on our calling to love as people of mercy. As we continue to journey through the Easter Season, let us reflect on the words of Pope Francis in his 2013 Easter message. Pope Francis stated: Let us accept the grace of Christ s resurrection! Let us be renewed by God s mercy, let us be loved by Jesus, let us enable the power of His love to transform our lives too; and let us become agents of this mercy, channels through which God can water the earth, protect all creation and make justice and peace flourish. As a faith community, we renew our commitment to continue to reflect on what Jesus resurrection means to us and how we can live as Easter people who build the Kingdom of God through our acts of mercy and love. Please join in the singing of our opening hymn: ___________________________

  4. First Reading: Acts 17.15, 22-18.1 A reading from the Acts of the Apostles. Those who conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens; and after receiving instructions to have Silas and Timothy join him as soon as possible, they left him. Then Paul stood in front of the Areopagus and said, Athenians, I see how extremely religious you are in every way. For as I went through the city and looked carefully at the objects of your worship, I found among them an altar with the inscription, To an unknown god.

  5. First Reading: Acts 17.15, 22-18.1 What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it, he who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by human hands, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mortals life and breath and all things. From one ancestor he made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live, so that they would search for God and perhaps grope for him and find him though indeed he is not far from each one of us.

  6. First Reading: Acts 17.15,22-18.1 For In him we live and move and have our being ; as even some of your own poets have said, For we too are his offspring. Since we are God s offspring, we ought not to think that the deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of mortals. While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

  7. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 148 The Response to the Psalm is: R.Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his host! R. Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and women alike, old and young together! R.

  8. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 148 R.Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his glory is above earth and heaven. R. He has raised up a power for his people, praise for all his faithful, for the people of Israel who are close to him. R

  11. Gospel: John 16.12-15 When Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father, he said to the disciples: I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. The gospel of the Lord. R. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
