He was extremely delighted to see that and exclaimed . These aren t raindrops falling from the sky, they are new coins. The big drops are ten cent pieces and the little ones are fives.

  11. He compared the raindrops with silver coins which shows his joy. They were promising him a good harvest resulting in more prosperity. ..But soon his joy turned into despair as the rain changed into hailstones and destroyed his harvest totally. The field had been covered with snow like a layer of white salt . Lencho was worried for his family.

  16. The type of conflict dominating in the story is Man vs Nature. As the story progresses, the family was so distraught. They thought that there was no hope at all, not a single one. don t be so upset, even though this seems like a total loss.

  17. Remember no one dies of hunger. This line gives us a premise that the family has regained back their hope and that hope is a help from God.

  18. The next thing that happened , Lencho, being described as an ox of a man started to write a letter addressed to god

  19. So decided to write a letter to god for help.Though he was a farmer he knew how to write and post a letter. He asked god to send him a hundred pesos so that he could sow his field again and support his family until the new crops were harvested. He also wrote that if God didn t help him,his family would die of hunger. And he went to the post office to mail the letter to God.

  20. The postmasters reaction to Lencho s letter The postmaster was surprised to see such an envelope addressing to god .Soon read Lencho s letter to God, the postmaster laughed heartily and went to his boss, but soon realised and was mesmerised to see Lencho s faith in god and didn't want to disillusion Lencho s faith. 24. Lencho addresses the post office employees A BUNCH OF CROOKS Lencho became very angry when he saw seventy pesos in the envelope as he had demanded hundred pesos. He did not believe that God could do such a mistake and send him less money. But still his faith in God is still intact that he decided to write a letter again for the rest of the money .In this letter he requested god not to send the rest of the money through the money order because he thought that the post office employees were a bunch of crooks who might have stolen his money.

  25. Lencho was a simple and poor farmer who had a firm faith in God. When he did not the amount which he demanded he blamed the post office employees for stealing his money as he could not believe that God could send him any less money. So he doubted these employees instead they were the ones who helped him in his problem.
