  1. Pauls Prayer

  2. Pauls Prayer Paul Prayed Often For Others For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers (Romans 1:9 KJV) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers (Ephesians 1:16 KJV) I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers (Philemon 1:4 KJV) I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; (2 Timothy 1:3 KJV) mention~ {mneia} a monument or memorial to perpetuate the memory of any person or thing

  3. Pauls Prayer Paul prayed With Others And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither. And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: (Acts 16:13 16 KJV) And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. (Acts 20:36 KJV)

  4. Pauls Prayer Paul Asked For The Prayers Of Others Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me (Romans 15:30 KJV) Brethren, pray for us. (1 Thessalonians 5:25 KJV) Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you (2 Thessalonians 3:1 KJV)

  5. Pauls Prayer Paul was granted some uncommon liberties while under house arrest in Rome And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him. (Acts 28:16 KJV) And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. (Acts 28:30 31 KJV)

  6. Pauls Prayer Paul considered himself a prisoner of Christ For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, (Ephesians 3:1 KJV) I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, (Ephesians 4:1 KJV) (Philem 1,9,23) Ambassador In Chains For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:20 KJV) Paul frequently spoke of himself as being in bonds as well as others

  7. Phil. 1:7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds Phil. 1:13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; Phil. 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Col. 4:18 The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.

  8. As Paul began his work in the seven-hilled city, he attracted considerable attention and his influence was staggering. The labor of the Christian-prisoner became known throughout the whole praetorian guard (Phil. 1:13). The praetorian guard was a body of ten thousand specially selected soldiers in Rome. They had unusual privileges (e.g., double pay), becoming so powerful that even the emperors had to court their favor (Robertson 1931, 438) All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar s household. (Philippians 4:22 KJV)

  9. Pauls Prayer Paul had faithful brothers and friends that encouraged him Luke (Acts 28:1-16) Aristarchus (Acts 27:2; Col. 4:10-11) Timothy (Phil. 2:19) Tychicus- delivered letters both to to the Colossians and the Ephesians (Col 4:7-9; Eph 6:21-22) Onesimus- former slave of Philemon (Philem 11-18; Col 4:9) Mark (Col 4:10; Philem 24) Titus (2 Tim 4:10; Ti 1:4) Jesus Justus (Col 4:10-11) Epaphras- was serving with Paul in Rome as a slave for Christ (Col. 4:12). Possibly established the churches in Colossae (Col. 1:7), and perhaps in Laodicea and Hierapolis as well (Col. 4:13) Epaphroditus- A native of Philippi, he journeyed to Rome bringing financial support to Paul on behalf of the Philippian congregation (Phil. 2:25; 4:18) He was out of a pagan background. Note the relationship of his name to Aphrodite, a heathen goddess.

  10. Jews Jew/Gentile Gentiles Aristarchus Luke Tychicus Epaphroditus Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek: (Acts 16:1 KJV) Onesimus Titus Jesus Justus Ephaphras Mark

  11. Pauls Prayer Paul s Prayer For The Ephesians Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers (Ephesians 1:16 KJV) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, (Ephesians 1:17 19 KJV)

  12. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:18 22 KJV)

  13. For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: (Ephesians 3:1 2 KJV)

  14. Pauls Prayer Paul s Prayer For The Ephesians The purpose of his apostleship For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: (Ephesians 3:1 2 KJV) Make known and understood the mystery of God (vs 3-4) Gentiles are fellow heirs and partakers of his promise (vs 6) Preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ (vs 8-9) That the manifold wisdom of God, may be made known by the church (vs 10) According to His "eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord (vs 11)

  15. In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. (Ephesians 3:12 13 KJV)

  16. Pauls Prayer Paul s Prayer For The Ephesians For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 3:14 KJV) Most believe that Paul is continuing or either picks up where he left off in vs 1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, (Ephesians 3:1 KJV)

  17. Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, To be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. (Ephesians 3:15 19 KJV)

  18. Pauls Prayer Paul s Prayer For The Ephesians The Purpose Of His Prayer To be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man (16b) Cf And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. (Romans 2:27 29 KJV)

  19. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. (Romans 7:21 25 KJV)

  20. Pauls Prayer Paul s Prayer For The Ephesians The Purpose Of His Prayer That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith (vs 17a) I pray that Christ may make His home in your hearts through your faith; so that having your roots deep and your foundations strong, in love, you may become mighty to grasp the idea, (Ephesians 3:17 WEYMTH) Weymouth New Testament ("WNT"), otherwise known as The New Testament in Modern Speech or The Modern Speech New Testament, is a translation of the New Testament into nineteenth century English by Richard Francis Weymouth

  21. Paul prays in Ephesians 3:17, That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith. Paul is not speaking here of the indwelling Holy Spirit who enters at conversion (Rom. 8:9, 11, 23; 1 Cor. 6:19; 1 John 4:13) or to Christ s indwelling that also occurs at salvation (2 Cor. 13:5; Gal. 2:20; Col. 1:27).The key lies in the Greek behind the word dwell, katoikeo (2730), a compound word comprised of kata (2596), down, and oikeo (3611), to inhabit a house. In the present context, however, the word is intensified. It doesn t just mean that Christ is in the house of our hearts, but that He is at home there. J.D. Watson Key Words From The New Testament

  24. Pauls Prayer Paul s Prayer For The Ephesians The Purpose Of His Prayer May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height (vs 18) And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord (Ephesians 2:20 21 KJV) And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, (Revelation 21:10 KJV) And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. (Revelation 21:16 KJV)

  25. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb s book of life. (Revelation 21:22 27 KJV)

  26. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. (Isaiah 2:2 KJV) Thus says the LORD: Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist, Says the LORD. But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word. (Isaiah 66:1 2 NKJV)

  27. For I know their works and their thoughts. It shall be that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My glory. I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and Pul and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. Then they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to the LORD out of all nations, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem, says the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of LORD. And I will also take some of them for priests and Levites, says the LORD. For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me, says the LORD, So shall your descendants and your name remain. (Isaiah 66:18 22 NKJV)

  29. Pauls Prayer Paul s Prayer For The Ephesians The Purpose Of His Prayer And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God (vs 19) Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; (Colossians 1:8 10 KJV) For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (Colossians 2:9 10 KJV)

  30. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. (1 John 4:9 14 KJV)

  31. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. (John 17:20 26 KJV)
