Improving CT Read Time Efficiency at Holland Hospital CT Department
The project at Holland Hospital focused on enhancing efficiency in CT read times through performance improvement initiatives. Their goal for 2021 was to achieve CT read times within 30 minutes for trauma activations at a rate exceeding 80%. PDSA 2020 Identified an increase in CT read times through PI reviews Tracked CT read times for 6 months to gain insight to average read times, how often reads are >30 minutes & investigate reasons for delayed reads Met with radiology leadership & ARS leadership to review read time delays & set PI goals Education provided to ED & radiology staff 2021 Monitored all trauma activation read times All cases with read times >30 min sent to radiology leadership & ARS for review In the moment education provided based on identified reasons for delay
