  1. 2017 TRACK & FIELD Coach JJ Downs

  2. TRUTH, COMMITMENT, CARE AND LOVE Begin with the end in Mind and Die empty. If I ask you where can you find the most talent? Where can you find the most potential? Where can you find the most wealth? Where can you find the most dreams? The answer young people is the cemetery!!!! - By: Aeneas Williams - Hall of Fame Corner Back

  3. TRUST, COMMITMENT, CARE AND LOVE You can trust me. Can I trust you? I'm committed to track & field. Are you? I care about you. Do you care about me? Love means you can depend on me. That's the biggest thing I want to teach you guys. That you can be dependable. Every relationship is for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Sometimes our season is done, the reason achieved

  4. TRUST, COMMITMENT, CARE AND LOVE "THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTEREST AND COMMITMENT. WHEN YOU'RE INTERESTED IN DOING SOMETHING, YOU DO IT ONLY WHEN IT'S CONVENIENT. WHEN YOU'RE COMMITTED TO SOMETHING, YOU ACCEPT NO EXCUSES; ONLY RESULTS." - KENNETH BLANCHARD

  5. WHY - VS - WHAT When you know you WHY, your world begins to make more sense. You begin to see how your WHY drives the choices you make. The 3 C's of Life: Choices, Chance, Changes. You must make a choice to take a chance or you life will never change. Your life is a result of the choices you make... If you don't like your life it is time to start making better choices. Once you find your passion you find your purpose. As you think, so shall you be. I Coach for hope, faith, love and life long relationships that change lives forever.

  6. WHY - VS - WHAT Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather an argument or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make. Period!!!!! The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. - Mark Twain

  7. WHY - VS - WHAT "When people are determined, they can overcome anything" By: Nelson Mandela

  8. YOU MUST EVOLVE IN YOUR THINKING Core Values Appreciation Monday: Enthusiasm Tuesday: Love Wednesday: Teamship Thursday: Accountability Friday: Unselfishness Saturday: Forgiveness Sunday:

  9. YOU MUST EVOLVE IN YOUR THINKING Money will make you rich in material things. But here are 10 things that money can't buy: 1. Manners 2. Morals 3. Respect 4. Character 5. Common Sense 6. Trust 7. Patience 8. Class 9. Integrity 10. Love

  10. YOU MUST EVOLVE IN YOUR THINKING If you don't program your mind it will be programmed for you. Whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different results in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind. It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to has power over you, if you allow it. In order to change you life, you must change you thoughts. - Antonio the poet

  11. YOU MUST EVOLVE IN YOUR THINKING GOOD IS THE ENEMY OF GREAT Good is the enemy of great. And that is one of the key reasons why we have so little that becomes great. We don't have great schools, principally because we have good schools. We don't have great government, principally because we have good government. Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life. The vast majority of companies never become great, precisely because the vast majority become good - and that is their main problem. You can apply this to everything in life. If you want to be great you have to move from your good comfort zone into your great comfort zone.

  12. YOU MUST EVOLVE IN YOUR THINKING 1. Greatness Exists In All Of Us 2. You Control Your Own Destiny 3. There's No Shortcut To Success 4. Lay One Brick At A Time 5. Make A Positive Difference 6. Represent You Own Idea Of You 7. You Have To Believe In Yourself 8. Dare To Be Unrealistic 9. Stop Letting Situations Push You Around 10. Focus 11. Attack Your Biggest Fears 12. Truth - Rules for success by: Will Smith -

  13. YOU MUST EVOLVE IN YOUR THINKING Eternal Verities in Life: Verity: 1. The quality or condition of being true, factual, or real 2. Something, such as a statement or principle, that is true especially an enduring truth. "The state or quality of being true; accordance with fact or reality: to question the verity of a statement. Something that is true, as a principle, belief, idea or statement: The eternal verities." Eternal Verities in Life Are: Truth, Honor and Character.

  14. QUOTES TO HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL Don t be afraid to fail Adversity can be a positive or negative stimulus only you can decide what it is going to be. Secret to success in life is to be ready when your opportunity comes Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan. -Knute Rockne The question isn't who is going to let me. It's who is going to stop me. Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. Abraham Lincoln Expect Nothing, Achieve Everything." "Little things make big things happen." -John Wooden

  15. QUOTES TO HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL "Growth requires discomfort. I guess that's why we call them growing pains. The will to stick it out, to keep going and to stay disciplined yields great return in the future. All in all, it's seems to be trhree safe comfort zones regardless of where you are in your journey...." "One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again." -Abraham H. Pain is temporary. It may last for a minute, an hour, or maybe even a year. But eventually it will subside, and success will take it's place. You must be willing to do something you have never done before to get to where you have never been before. Greatness is a lot of small things done well day after day, workout after workout, obedience after obedience. -Ray Lewis

  16. SUCCESS & FAILURE If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L means "First Attempt In Learning" End is not end, in fact E.N.D means "Effort Never Dies" If you get No as an answer, Remember N.O. means "Next Opportunity" So let's be positive

  17. SUCCESS & FAILURE Why athletes with average talent succeed: 1. Work Hard 2. Coachable 3. Practice Hard 4. Do all the little things well 5. Value their roles Why talented athletes fail: 1. Don't work hard 2. Uncoachable 3. Listen to & have the wrong people in their circle 4. Selfish

  18. SUCCESS & FAILURE HARD WORK + CONSISTENCY + TIME = RESULTS Think and act as if you are already a success and you will become successful. Not immediately, but sooner than you think.

  19. SUCCESS & FAILURE Unsuccessful People Successful People Read every day Talk about ideas Compliment Embrace Change Forgive others Learn constantly Accept responsibility for their failures Have a sense of gratitude Set goals and develop life plans Set a budget save money wisely. Watch TV every day Talk about people Complain, criticize Fear change Hold grudges Are know-it-alls Blame others for their failures Have a sense of entitlement Neve set goals just wing it Never set a budget spend money rashly

  20. SUCCESS & FAILURE Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs: 1. The future can be better than the present. 2. I have the power to make it so The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little "extra." Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in & day out.

  21. SUCCESS &FAILURE Inevitables of success: 1. You will feel pain. 2. You will cry before you get it. 3. You will lose friends. 4. You family will discourage you. 5. People will hate you for no reason. 6. You will almost talk yourself out of it. 7. You will doubt yourself thousands of times. 8. You will think you're going crazy. 9. You will develop weird habits. 10. You will lose money 11. IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT.

  22. LEGACY Legacy: An amount of money or property left to someone in a will. Something that you leave behind once you are gone. What foot prints are you leaving behind? What are you willing to move through in order to stay the course and accomplish your dreams? "Do whatever you got to do to make sure you chase your legacy every second of your life."

  23. LEGACY "We got one opportunity in life, once chance at life to do whatever you're going to do, and lay your foundation and make whatever mark you're going to make. Whatever legacy you're going to leave; leave your legacy!" "Wins and losses come a dime a dozen. But effort? Nobody can judge that. Because effort is between you and you." -Ray Lewis "Opportunity has no slow season, no off days, or down time. Opportunity is everything you make of it. So take advantage when it comes.

  24. LEGACY (YOUR NAME) You got it from your father. It was all he had to give. So it's yours to use and cherish, For as long as you may live. If you lose the watch he gave you, It can always be replaced But a black mark on your name, Son, Can never be erased. It was clean the day you took it, And a worthy name to bear. When he got it from his father, There was no dishonor there. So make sure you guard it wisely, After all is said and done. You'll be glad the name is spotless, When you give it to your son By: Edgar Albert Guest

  25. CHARACTER So, much about sports and sports participation has changed over the years; yet there is still so much that has stayed the same. And those things that have stayed the same - the things that every single athlete, every single person, will need in order to ever have a chance at reaching their potential (athletic or otherwise), are all characteristics that come from within: Internal values, beliefs and principles which help build an inner strength that is difficult to measure. They are constants, cornerstones of success that can never be forgotten, nor ever be eliminated from the equation. Essentially, they are the foundations or building blocks for anything that one wants to accomplish in anything.

  26. CHARACTER "A person can have some talent and some character and have the chance to succeed. But if he has tons of talent and no character he will fail." "No matter how talented you are we want to know how coachable you are. An un-coachable player can & will ruin the chemistry of a team." Hemimgway's definition of character is "grace under pressure" #0DAAT = One Day At A Time

  27. CHARACTER "One athlete of character will improve a team. One team of character will improve a school. One school of character can impact an entire community."

  28. CHARACTER BE MORE CONCERNED WITH YOUR CHARACTER THAN YOUR REPUTATION, BECAUSE YOUR CHARACTER IS WHAT YOU REALLY ARE, WHILE YOUR REPUTATION IS MERELY WHAT OTHERS THINK YOU ARE. - John Wooden -

  29. CHARACTER When the One Great Scorer comes to write against your name He marks - not that you won or lost - but how you played the game by Grantland Rice from the poem "Alumnus Football"

  30. DREAMS When you wake up in the morning you have two choices.... Go back to sleep and dream you dreams or wake up & chase those dreams. This light we call life is not controlled by a switch. Write your own story while the light is still light!!! When writing the story of you life, don't let anyone else hold the pen. But if you dreams don't scare you, they ain't big enough - Life of Dillon Sometimes Life is about risking everything for a dream no one can see but you

  31. DREAMS Life has no limitations, except the ones you make. - Maya Angelou Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. - Mark Twain Don't follow you dreams lead them! "Some men see things as they are and say, "Why?" I dream and things that never were and say, "Why not?" - George Bernard Shaw - made famous by Ted Kennedy at Bobby Kennedy's funeral.

  32. DREAMS "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." - Harriet Tubman -

  33. DREAMS A dream written down with a DATE becomes a goal. A goal broken down into STEPS becomes a plan. A plan backed by ACTION makes your dreams come true - GREG S. REID -

LET THEM PARTY WHILE YOU WORK. THE DIFFERENCE WILL SHOW. You must be willing to do something you have never done before to get to where you have never been before.

  36. HOW TO WIN These require zero talent. 1. Being on time 2. Work ethic 3. Effort 4. Body Language 5. Energy 6. Attitude 7. Passion 8. Being coachable 9. Doing extra 10. Being prepared

  37. HOW TO WIN You Must be fearless in your approach to everything in life. The definition is so simple: Fearless: Lack of fear. "A fearless defender of freedom" bold, brave, courageous, valiant, heroic, daring, audacious, unafraid undaunted, unflinching Being fearless in everyday life will make you unstoppable!!! Being uncommon because being common want get it done!!!

  38. THAT'S NOT MY JOB! This is a story about four people named: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

  39. NOTICE TO ALL STUDENTS Leave the excuses at the door. If you didn't do your homework, just admit it. If you didn't study for the test, accept the grade and resolve to do better (with my help if necessary) next time. If you refuse to follow my rules, accept the consequences. This is not a democracy. This is my classroom: and I'm here for one reason and one reason only: TO TEACH YOU TO INSPIRE YOU TO HELP YOU GROW I'll do my part. The rest is up to you

  40. CLOSING STATEMENT Goodbye to my excuses! Goodbye to my yesterday! Goodbye to my hurt! Goodbye to my failures! Goodbye to my toxic relationships! Goodbye to my lack of confidence! Goodbye to my disbelief! Goodbye to being in bondage! Goodbye to being a victim! Goodbye to the old me! Hello to my new season!
