  6. SUMMARY OF COVER PERSONAL ACCIDENT Who is Insured? All registered members and all non-participating officials of the Insured including coaches, guides, committee members, employees of the Insured including apprentices, voluntary workers and work experience students, and prospective members. When does cover apply? During events, organised and individual training relating to Dragon boating. Age Limits 2 - 100 years Geographical Scope Worldwide Maximum Benefits: up to $250,000 Death up to $250,000 Capital Benefits

SPORTS PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE DOESN T PROVIDE 100% COVER V-Insurance Group has arranged this insurance program to provide benefits to members, officials etc. of Australian Dragon Boat who, through injury or accident, incur financial loss and who would otherwise not have received assistance. The program seeks to provide benefits to those most exposed and to maintain protection at the lowest possible cost to membership. It therefore cannot provide 100% cover or a benefit for every loss that occurs. Federal Government Legislation prevents insurance companies from paying any insurance benefit for a medical service that is covered by Medicare. This legislation also applies to the Medicare gap. In addition to these policies, all members are encouraged to consider taking out Private Health, Income Protection Insurance and Life Insurance if their individual circumstance require it.

  9. SUMMARY OF COVER PUBLIC LIABILITY Who is Insured? Australian Dragon Boat Federation including all Affiliated States, Clubs, Officials, Accredited Coaches, Voluntary Workers, Members, Executives. Scope of Cover Provides cover for insured entities and persons that are held liable for a negligent act that results in bodily injury or property damage. When does cover apply? During events, fundraising, organised and individual training relating to Dragon boating. Territorial Limits Worldwide excluding operations excluding USA and/or Canada

Policy Limits Public Liability $20,000,000 any one occurrence Products Liability $20,000,000 any one occurrence and in the annual aggregate Professional Liability $20,000,000 anyone occurrence and in the aggregate Molestation/Sexual Abuse $250,000 any one occurrence and in the aggregate Policy excess $1,000 each and every occurrence except molestation $5,000 Note: Payment of the excess is the responsibility of the defending party and will not be paid by DBNSW unless agreed otherwise

All managers, coaches and authorised members of Australian Dragon Boat Federation including their Accompanying Spouse/Partner and/or Dependent Children when on approved / declared travel. Summary of the policy benefits: Unlimited overseas medical cover $1,000,000 Death and Capital Benefits $10,000 Missed transport connection $20,000 Loss of Deposits Baggage - $10,000 max any one item up to $20,000 $20,000 Leisure Travel Benefit limitation

  12. SUMMARY OF COVER (cont.) TRAVEL INSURANCE (CONT) How do members access this cover? The International Travel License can be purchased directly from the Australian Dragon Boat Federation website site https://www.ausdbf.com.au/product/27736/ When should members purchase this policy? As soon as you book your trip! Is cover for Associated leisure travel covered? Yes up to a maximum of $20,000 Can pre-existing Medical conditions be covered under the policy? No. Pre-existing medical conditions are excluded from the policy. Any medical condition that an Insured Person has suffered from or been treated for within 365 days from the inception of the policy, irrespective of whether a complete recovery has occurred, is still treated as a Pre- Existing Condition and excluded from the policy.

  13. SUMMARY OF COVER ASSOCIATION LIABILITY Who is Insured? Directors and Officers of Australian Dragon Boat Federation, States, Territories, including all affiliated Clubs and any Appointed Sub-Committee. Scope of Cover Association Liability is essentially made up of 5 covers; Directors and Officers, Professional Indemnity, Employment Practices Liability, Fidelity/ Crime, Statutory Liability. Limit of Indemnity Excess $5,000,000 in the aggregate $50,000 in respect of Fidelity/Crime $250,000 in respect of Statutory Liability Professional Indemnity $5,000 Association Reimbursement - $5,000 Employment Practices Liability - $10,000 Fidelity Loss $10,000 Tax Audit Expenses - $2,500

  14. ASSOCIATION LIABILITY CLAIM EXAMPLES Employment Practices Liability legal action is taken against the club for the unfair dismissal of a senior coach. Fidelity / Crime the club treasurer has been stealing money over a period of time from the club. The club makes a claim for their financial loss Directors and Officers Liability legal action is taken against the club for defamation of a club member. This came about as a result of information circulated in a Facebook post. Claims by Board members being left out of meetings and being bullied. Important Note Members of a board or committee need to be aware of their legal and fiduciary obligations.

  15. SUMMARY OF COVER CYBER INSURANCE Who is Insured under this policy? Australian Dragon Boat Federation and affiliated States, Territories and Clubs. Limit of Liability $1,000,000 any one claim and in the aggregate $250,000 sublimit for Cyber crime $50,000 business interruption $500,000 data restoration fees Policy Excess $1,000 each and every claim 8 hours wait period in respect to cover 1.2 Territorial Limits Worldwide (excluding USA and Canada)

OPTIONAL COVERS The following insurance can be arranged for your club via DBNSW Marine Hull Vessels including hulls, floatation devices, paddles, head, tails and drums, navigation equipment Portable Equipment Sound Systems, marquees, banners, timing equipment Trailer / Motor Vehicle Road registered trailers and/or club owned motor vehicles Property Building and Contents Club sheds and contents located within the premises

  17. CURRENT CLAIM TRENDS ACROSS SPORTS Personal Accident costs increasing. Medical Services charging more, new treatments available and more frequent treatment. Increase in historical sexual interference / molestation claims. Increase in liability claims and payouts generally. Inflation playing a large part. Increase in Cyber claims Increase in employment related liability claims bullying, wrongful dismissal, of staff, aggrieved members that have been suspended.

  21. PUBLIC LIABILITY CLAIMS REVIEW Notable Historical Claims 2018/2019 member tripped over low a hanging fence chain. Claimant claimed for medical expenses through the Personal Accident policy and the out of pocket medical expenses through the Public Liability Insurance policy total incurred $57,450. 2016/2017 Member slipped on a sandbag and injured her back. Matter was settled in March 2021 in the amount of $209,813 including legal expenses. 2015/2016 Third Party tripped on an electrical cable at a competition injuring their right wrist and hand. Although the incident occurred in April 2016, the Third Party issued proceedings in 2020 incurring a total of $56,158. AusDBF were found negligent as they laid the electrical cable in an unsafe location.

  26. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS If an individual involved in Paddle Australia and Australian Dragon Boat events do they need to be a member of both? The AusDBF policy will cover you 24/7. However there currently no reciprocal rights between the sports. Is there an age limit on the policy? The Personal Accident policy covers members up to 85 years of age Can non- members come and try the sport without registering? No, individuals should register their details on RevSport and obtain a Dragon Pass which provides 4 week trial period. Can the travel insurance upgrade be arranged directly via V-Insurance Group? No, The International Travel License can be purchased directly from the Australian Dragon Boat Federation website site https://www.ausdbf.com.au/product/27736/ Is a boat insured if it s stored at another club location? Yes, boats and associated equipment are covered Australia wide as long are they are securely kept whilst not in use.
