1. Wildland Fire Reporting Why is it Important to the Fire Community?

Defining a State Fire: This issue was brought directly to the 2016 Chiefs, Managers, Supervisors joint meeting with the NASF Fire Committee in Boise, ID in January 5-7, 2016, where a where a working group was dedicated and assigned to resolve this issue. The issue was resolved and adopted by the NASF Fire Committee as follows: oRecommend the Fire Committee adopt the following definition of a state fire; " A state wildfire is defined as a wildfire where a state or local agency has protection responsibility* and that agency takes action or provides support. *Protecting Unit (NWCG Glossary October 2015) The entity responsible for providing direct incident management and services to a given area pursuant to its jurisdictional responsibility or as specified by law, contract or agreement.
