  1. INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO COUNTER ACT UNEMPLOYMENT It is very important that you never lose hope, or feel that because there are so many unemp loyed young people, that you will never get a j ob. There are not many jobs so it is important that you further your qualifications. If you do not find work it is up to you to use yo ur skills to find an alternative to a formal job.

  2. The worst thing that you can do is sit at ho me, get depressed, join a gang, abuse subst ances, and lose all hope. This will make you even more unemployabl e. If you do volunteer work, or any work you c an find such as part-time work, or become a n entrepreneur and do informal jobs, you wi ll gain very valuable work experience. Your CV will look better, because you have g ained some experience.

  3. VOLUNTEERING It means to help others. You give of your time and skills to others. It makes you feel good about yourself. This builds confidence. It allows you to explore your interests, abilities and skills. It makes it easier for you to choose a career.

  4. PART TIME JOBS Working for a short while or part of the day. You gain experience. You can have more than one job at a time. You become skilled in different aspects of wor k. You earn an income. You build your CV.

  5. COMMUNITY WORK When you do something to benefit your com munity. It is a form of volunteering but is based on the needs of the community. Government or an NGO normally pays for the work.

  6. ENTREPRENEURSHIP You see a need and provide a service or goods that people need. This is a great way to earn money while you lo ok for work opportunities. If your entrepreneurship leads to success, you may turn this into your day-to day job and em ploy others.

  7. INFORMAL JOBS Are usually short term. eg. Washing cars or selling newspapers. Some people prefer informal employment due to i ts flexible hours. It allows them to balance family responsibility. Others find that this is the only work they can do t o survive.

  8. FINANCIAL AND SOCIAL VIABILITY OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND OTH ER EMPLOYMENT OPTIONS The better way to earn money. The more jobs created the better for everyone. In our country formal jobs are scarce. Each citizen has to try and create jobs and work o pportunities for others. There are many opportunities in the informal sect or.

  9. SARS TAX OBLIGATIONS Income tax is governments main source of incom e. It is a tax levied on all income and profits receive d by a taxpayer. Without income tax there will be no services suc h as roads, hospitals and schools. Government won t be able to function. SARS requires all those receiving any form of emp loyment income, including those below the tax th reshold, to be registered with SARS to help reduc e non-compliance or tax dodging.

  10. THE IMPACT OF CORRUPTION AND FRAUD ON THE INDIVIDUAL, COM PANY, COMMUNITY AND COUNTR Y Corruption and fraud are ways of getting mone y, privileges and power dishonestly. The misuse of public power and money for priv ate benefit. The abuse of public office for private gain. Fraud is getting money by cheating, stealing or doing dishonest deals.

  11. FORMS OF CORRUPT BEHAVIOUR Bribery paying for illegal favour. Influence peddling using your influence or connections. Stealing public resources taking away what belongs to all. Nepotism and cronyism appointing of friends or fa mily members into position even though they do not have the qualifications. Favouritism special treatments or favours to those who do not deserve. Extortion obtaining money or favours through force or threat.

  12. IMPACT OF CORRUPTION ON INDI VIDUALS Corruption affects the poor individuals the mo st. It reduces the poor peoples access to housing, electricity and water, health care and docume ntation. It makes poor people feel powerless and cheat ed. People lose hope when there is corruption.

  13. IMPACT OF CORRUPTION ON COM PANIES Leads to people not trusting officials who take s bribes from them. People start mistrusting one another. The company gets a bad name. People start thinking the only way to get servi ce from that company is through corruption. Companies spend a lot of money on putting co rruption controls into place.

  14. IMPACT OF CORRUPTION ON COM MUNITIES People start believing the only way to access s ervices, jobs and opportunities is through brib ery. People will start distrusting each other. It leads to some people being unfairly advanta ged.

  15. IMPACT OF CORRUPTION ON THE COUNTRY Corruption has a negative effect on a country. Service delivery will not be at its best. Unemployment increased. Institutions will not develop. Income generation through taxes will be harmed. Donors and investors will not put their money into a country that is corrupt. We cannot reach the goal of a better life for all if resources meant to improve the lives of the poor p eople do not reach them.
