The JTBCS Parents Association, outlined by the Education Act of 1998, plays a vital role in fostering collaboration between parents, teachers, and school management for the betterment of students. By voicing parental perspectives on policy matters such as health, safety, homework, and behavior, the association ensures a holistic approach to education. Monthly meetings and elected representatives enhance communication and decision-making within the school community.

  1. JTBCS Parents Association JTBCS Parents Association The Education Act, 1998 sets down the role of the parent association. The Parents Association works with the principal, staff and the Board of Management to build effective partnership of home and school. Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows that children achieve higher levels when parents and teachers work together. The Parent Association offers the parent s perspective to the principal and Board of Management on policy issues and incidents that may require a review of school policy, e.g. Health & Safety, Homework, Enrolment, Behaviour problems, Bullying etc. All parents and guardians of students attending the school are members of the Parents Association. The committee is comprised of elected members, each representing a local area. We are recruiting members for next year, particularly from the areas of Knockainey, Lough Gur and Glenbrohane. Please contact info@johnthebaptistcs.ie or riahhogan@gmail.com for further information.

  2. Board of Management The Board's main function is to manage the school on behalf of the patron and for the benefit of the students and to provide an appropriate education for each student at the school. The Board is accountable to the Patrons/Trustees (the Presentation Sisters, the De La Salle Brothers and the VEC, now LCETB) and the Minister for Education. The Board of Management of our school includes the Chairperson, school senior management, Teachers Union representatives, 2 Parent/Guardian Representatives (one must be a mother) and those nominated by the Trustees

  3. Parents Representatives on the Board of Management The Parents Association is not a forum for complaints regarding students, teachers or other parents. There are other procedures in place for this purpose. The 2 Parent Representatives contribute to and uphold the decisions and policies of the Board of Management. Monthly meetings, usually the 3rd Monday of the month at 4pm, often in the school for reasons of confidentiality. Other out of course meetings are called at short notice to ratify posts, for example.
