  1. Kenning A descriptor that replaces a person s name. Used for alliteration, striking imagery, or rhyme. EX: The mighty protector of men referring to Beowulf

  2. KENNING PRACTICE When we translate these kennings from Anglo-Saxon, they lose some of their poetic quality. Listed below are some modern kennings. With a partner, translate the kennings into modern language. Write down the meanings and identify examples of striking imagery, alliteration, and rhyme among them gas guzzler eye candy cancer stick web surver rug rat land line boob tube couch potato tramp stamp

  5. Is your hero an epic hero? PART 1 Your job is pick a hero from literature, film, etc. that you think might be epic and see if he/she measures up against the epic standards. You will then pick 6 of these standards and explain how or in what capacity your hero does/doesn t measure up. Be specific and write this in complete sentences.
