Shona History The language of Shona is spoken in Zimbabwe, Africa Shona is a southern Bantoid language It is an established written language with a highly developed literature The script contains 35 symbols Shona is spoken by 10.7 million people as a first language and another 1.8 million as a second or third language a Niger-Congo as a second or third language Shona has borrowed many words from English, Africa and other countries For example tea in English is also tii in Shona just spelled differently words from English, Africa, and other languages Example: tea in English is also spelled differently
