  1. Create a research page on John Webb Singer Include the following; Who was he? What did he do? How is he linked to Frome? Name 2 famous statues that he has created. Add a pencil drawing of one of the statues.

  2. Who is J.W. Singer? Who is J.W. Singer? J.W. Singer & Sons LTD A brief history of the firm. J.W. Singer created a factory that cast statues and products for customers around the world. He worked with artists to turn their work in to high quality statues that have lasted for a long time and still look amazing today. 1848 John Webb Singer casts his first brass alter candlesticks using turnips as moulds. 1851 Singer is using premises in Eagle Lane in Frome to cast church ornaments, later expanding to a forge in Justice Lane. From 1851- 1878 Singer exhibits his work in London and Paris. In 1878 Singer was awarded Silver and bronze medals at the Paris exhibition. In 1899 the following statues were cast, Boadicea and justice in London, King Alfred in Winchester and lions for the Rhodes Memorial, Capetown. 1904 On May 6th. John Webb Singer died, aged 85.

Boadicea Location, Thames embankment Boadicea and Her Daughters is a bronze sculptural group in London representing Boudica, queen of the Celtic Iceni tribe, who led an uprising in Roman Britain. It is located to the north side of the western end of Westminster Bridge, near Portcullis House and Westminster Pier, facing Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster across the road
