Nothing But Mercy: The Integration Story of Mercy Hospital in Black History Month Play
"Explore the powerful narrative of 'Nothing But Mercy', a play shedding light on the integration of Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City and the poignant clash between Jim Crow laws and the Sisters of Mercy's faith. Witness the confrontation between a nurse and a nun that sparks a larger reflection on societal injustice. Dive into a little-known chapter that unfolded in 1947, when a black woman's simple request for a private room set off a chain of events challenging racial segregation within the hospital's walls."

'NOTHING BUT MERCY' TELLS STORY OF INTEGRATION OF MERCY HOSPITAL IN OKLAHOMA CITY The play is being presented at Metropolitan Library System libraries in central Oklahoma.
NOTHING BUT MERCY IS ESSENTIALLY ABOUT THE CONFRONTATION BETWEEN A NURSE AND THE NUN AND, ON A DEEPER LEVEL, THE CONFLICT BETWEEN THE UNJUST JIM CROW LAWS OF THAT TIME AND THE LAWS OF GOD FOLLOWED BY THE SISTERS OF MERCY. And it all started when a black woman asked if her husband could have a private room.
