  11. 1 - GENERAL INFORMATION 1 - GENERAL INFORMATION###_1_### Tractor intended use Magnum series tractors with standard equipment and authorized attachments, are intended to be used for customary farming, land leveling and related agriculture operations (intended use). Installation of utility (dozer) blades, tile plows, or push bars on the tractor is not recommended. Any tractor damage resulting from the installation and/or use of such equipment is not covered by the tractor warranty. The tractor is not designed for light/heavy forestry appli- cations; usage is prohibited for forestry applications. Do not use this machine for any purpose or in any man- ner other than as described in the manual, decals, or other product safety information provided with the ma- chine. These materials define the machine s intended use. Use in any other way is considered as contrary to the intended use. The manufacture accepts no liability for any damage or injury resulting from this misuse and these risks must be born solely by the user. Consult an authorized dealer or CNH Latin Am rica Ltda on changes, additions or modifications that can be re- quired for this machine to comply with various regula- tions and safety requirements. Unauthorized modifica- tions will cause serious injury or death. Anyone mak- ing such unauthorized modifications is responsible for the consequences. Engine and its systems The fuel system, exhaust after-treatment system, and en- gine on your machine are designed and built to govern- ment emissions standards. Tampering by dealers, cus- tomers, operators, and users is strictly prohibited by law. Failure to comply could result in government fines, rework charges, invalid warranty, legal action, and possible con- fiscation of the machine until rework to original condition iscompleted. Engineserviceand/orrepairsmustbedone by a certified technician only! Electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) This machine complies strictly with the European Regulations on electro magnetic emissions. However, interference may arise as a result of add on equipment which may not necessarily meet the required standards. As such interference can result in serious malfunction of the unit and/or create unsafe situations, you must observe the following: Ensure that each piece of non CASE IH equipment fitted to the machine bears the CE mark. The maximum power of emission equipment (radio, telephones, etc.) must not exceed the limits imposed by the national authorities of the country where you use the machine. The electro magnetic field generated by the add on system should not exceed 24 V/m at any time and at any lo- cation in the proximity of electronic components. Failure to comply with these rules will render the CASE IH warranty null and void. Manual scope and required training level This manual provides information on the intended use of your tractor under the conditions foreseen by the man- ufacturer during normal operation, routine service and maintenance and periodic service and maintenance. ing mounted or towed equipment, raising and lowering components into or out of work position, adjusting tractor settings for specific field or crop settings, etc. Routineserviceandmaintenancearethoseactionswhich must be performed daily to maintain proper tractor func- tion by an owner/operator who is familiar with tractor char- acteristics, and who is complying with the information on routine service and safe practices in this manual and in the decals on the tractor. It is your responsibility to observe pertinent laws and regulations and follow CNH America LLC instructions on machine operation and maintenance. Safety rules - General Stay off slopes too steep for safe operation. Shift down before you start up or down a hill with a heavy load. Avoid free wheeling. If the tractor engine stalls, hydraulic pressure drops, and the brake pedals can be pushed to the floor. Acti- vating both pedals will engage the park brake. Do not drive on roads, or at high speed anywhere, with the differential lock engaged. Difficult steering will oc- cur, and can result in an accident. In field operation, use the differential lock for traction improvement, but release for turning at row ends. Never refuel the machine when the engine is hot or running. Never smoke while refueling. Rear upset can result if pulling from wrong location on tractor. Hitch only to the drawbar. Use the three point hitch only with the implements designed for its use not as a drawbar. Do not exceed implement transport speed or the speed rating on the implement tires. Review the implements Operator s Manual for specifications. serve this rule may result in death or serious injury. Do not pull with elastic tow ropes. Elastic tow rope stores energy. Sudden release may cause injury or death. Failure to ob- Stopping distance increases with increasing speed as the weight of the towed load increases, especially on hills and slopes. Young children should not be permitted to operate or ride the tractor under any circumstances. To prevent tractor movement, always apply the park brake whenever the tractor is parked with the engine running. The park brake is applied automatically when the engine is shut down. Extra weight and poor traction conditions such as mud or ice increase your stopping distance. Remember that liquid in the tires, weights on the machine or wheels, tanks filled with fertilizer, herbicides or insecticides all these add weight and increase the distance you need in which to stop. To avoid possible eye damage from microwave signals emitted by the radar sensor, do not look directly into the sensor face. Safety rules - Air conditioning system The air conditioning system is under high pressure. Do not disconnect any lines. The release of high pressure can cause serious injury. Service, repair or recharging must be performed only by a trained service technician. The air conditioning system contains gases that are harmful to the environment when released into the at- mosphere. Do not attempt to service or repair the sys- tem. 2-2
