  4. 3rd5th Gifted Program Our gifted program at HRES is a pull-out program where the students in 3rd - 5th receive their science curriculum instruction in my classroom. The state standards are taught using the Florida Science text. In our classroom the students engage in many hands-on experiments as well as STEM activities that challenge their critical thinking skills.

  5. XCEL Science Grading Grading Scale: 50% Assessments (Unit tests) 30% Lesson quizzes (open book), vocabulary quizzes, (one per nine weeks counts as two quiz grades) 20% Classwork & homework (labs and Brain Checks) ** The lowest quiz grade each nine weeks will be dropped. projects Extra Credit: Students may complete a maximum of two extra credit assignments each nine weeks. They can do a current event summary, a science-related community event summary or a non-fiction science-based book summary. All summaries should be a minimum of two paragraphs for extra credit.

  6. K-2nd Gifted Program Our K-2nd grade gifted program is STEM enrichment. The students come to my classroom twice a week for STEM activities, but do not receive a grade from me. I want to challenge their thinking and engage their creativity and curiosity.

  7. 3rd grade STEM Special Area 3rd grade is on a 6-Day special area rotation. I come to each 3rd grade classroom every six days. The students are challenged with activities in science, technology, engineering and math. I love to watch their thinking as they solve problems.
