  2. The breath- taking works of Ancient Egypt are lasting evidence of the source to which most western art and architecture may be traced.

  3. Unique features of Egyptian culture made Its influence more than merely seminal.

  4. The Egyptians made their artifacts from only the most precious, and least corruptible, materials and hid them away in sealed tombs so that their full glory was unfaded when subsequent generations uncovered them.

  5. The Egyptians strove to create fine reproductions of themselves and their surroundings that they might be afforded the immortality denied the flesh.

  6. In so doing they left an extraordinarily sharp image of their world, one that has given fresh inspiration directly to many cultures and generations.

  7. The Egyptians took their own inspiration from their surroundings. The intensity of the desert sun and the fertility of the Nile valley are reflected in the colors of Egyptian decorative art.

  8. Try to Answer the Following: What is the major source of western art? Why did Egyptians strive to create reproductions of themselves? How did the Nile and the desert sun inspire Egyptians ?
