Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. (Matthew 13:24 30 KJV)
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 Background The Parable of The Wheat & Tares Tares Scientific Name- Lolium temulentum Common Name- Darnel ryegrass, darnel, poison ryegrass Effects - dizziness, off-balance and nauseous, and its official name, L. temulentum, comes from a Latin word for drunk. It was used in Europe as a medicinal plant, as an anesthetic, and to slow menstrual bleeding. But most often, it seemed to be baked into dazed bread or brewed into beer to give those basics an extra kick. It is difficult to distinguish from wheat. As a matter of fact it is most distinguishable when it is full grown...

(Matthew 13:28 30 KJV)
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 The Wheat & Tares (Matt 13:24-30) Jesus explains this parable to the apostles (vss. 36-43). One of two parables that Jesus gives an explanation. The is the other Parable of the Sower
Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Matthew 13:36 43 KJV)

The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 The Wheat & Tares (Matt 13:24-30) Jesus explains this parable to the apostles (vss. 36-43). This is one of the two parables Jesus explains. The Parable of the Sower is the other The setting of the parable The tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the end of the world (vs 40) The Son of Man will send His angels They shall gather out of His Kingdom all things that offend and those who do iniquity (vs 41) They shall be cast in the fire and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth (vs 42) Then the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father He that ears to hear, let them hear
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 ? Three Basic Interpretations of The Parable of the Wheat & Tares The Parable is about the Church There are those who claim that the these passages teach the field is the Church and the good and evil will continue in it until the final judgement. They believe this parable teaches that there is no authority for church discipline or withdrawal God only will separate the faithful from the unfaithful
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 ? Three Basic Interpretations of The Parable of the Wheat & Tares The Parable is about the Church Jesus clearly stated the field is the world not the Church (vs 38) Church discipline is clearly taught in the New Testament (Matt 18:15- 17; 1 Cor 5:7-12; 2 Thess 3:6, 10-14)
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:5 KJV) But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, (Titus 3:9 10 NKJV)
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 ? Three Basic Interpretations of The Parable of the Wheat & Tares The Parable is about the Church We are not to judge them that without For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. (1 Corinthians 5:12 13 KJV)
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 ? Three Basic Interpretations of The Parable of the Wheat & Tares The Parable is about the Church Others believe the parable is about the Church because of Jesus use of the word kingdom in verse 41 Jesus clearly stated the field is the world not the Church (vs 38) All good and bad are represented by the wheat and the tares. Remember the tares (bad) are sown amongthe wheat (good)
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 ? Three Basic Interpretations of The Parable of the Wheat & Tares The Parable is about the Church Others believe the parable is about the Church because of Jesus use of the word kingdom in verse 41 Some suggest the kingdom has wider application Does the Kingdom have a wider application than the church? The sons of the kingdom are those that accepted and submitted to the will of God Some state that the word kingdom simply represents dominion and the dominion of Christ is the entire earth Cf (Matt 28:18; Psa 24:1 Cf Ex 9:29; 1 Sam 2:8;1 Cor 8:5; 10:26,28)...
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. (Matthew 28:18 KJV) The earth is the LORD S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. (Psalm 24:1 KJV) For the earth is the Lord s, and the fulness thereof. But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord s, and the fulness thereof (1 Corinthians 10:26, 28 KJV)
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:18 19 KJV)
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell (Colossians 1:17 19 KJV) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:20 23 KJV)
The Value Of The Kingdom Matthew 13:44-46 ? Three Basic Interpretations of The Parable of the Wheat & Tares The Parable is referring to the final judgement of all men Jesus says in verse 38 the the field is the world but the bad seed (children of the wicked one) will be gathered out of His kingdom They will be cast in a furnace of fire and there be wailing and gnashing of teeth The Parable of the Talents (Matt 25:30) The Sheep & The Goats (Matt 25:45-46)
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 25:30 KJV) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (Matthew 25:46 KJV)

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 8:10 12 KJV)
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. (Matthew 22:2 3 KJV) And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen. (Matthew 22:12 14 KJV)
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. (Luke 13:27 28 KJV)

Three Basic Interpretations of The Parable of the Wheat & Tares The Parable is referring to God s Judgement Upon Israel (Destruction of Jerusalem) Biblical Prophecy can have both Immediate and Remote fulfillment and/or multiple applications Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. (Psalm 41:9 KJV) I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. (John 13:18 KJV)

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44 KJV) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (1 John 3:9 10 KJV)

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (Matthew 24:1 3 KJV)
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:20 KJV) Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:25 27 KJV)
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear (Hebrews 12:25 28 KJV)

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (Matthew 24:31 34 KJV)
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: (Revelation 1:1 KJV) Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. (Daniel 12:1 3 KJV) Daniel is told to shut up the vision twice Vss. 4.9 have insight NASB
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:47 50 KJV)
Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. (Matthew 13:51 KJV)
