Worship in spirit and truth John 4: 19-24 (Allen Lo May 17, 2020)
Key Bible Verses: John 4:19-24 Joh 4:19 The woman said to him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Joh 4:20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship. Joh 4:21 Jesus said to her, Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. Joh 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. Joh 4:23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. Joh 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
Meaning of worship (Whom?) Joh 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. Joh 4:23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. Joh 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. Do we know who we worship? (V22) Joh 10:14 I am a good shepherd; I know my sheep, and my sheep also know me (Creator of heaven and earth) Father (v23) Father in heaven. :Abba Father Mat 23: 9 because only one is your father, the Father in heaven. God is spirit (v24) spirit ( -pneuma), literally meaning "air".

He is the creator of heaven and earth Our fathers Tradition ? He made us and we belong to him Psa 100: 3 You should know that Jehovah is God! We are made by him and belong to him; we are his people and sheep on his pasture. Worthy of our worship Worship is worth-ship .

Joh 4:21 Jesus said to her, Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. The place is not important, our heart is more important neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father God is omnipresent (beyond the limits of time and space) Psa 139:1 O LORD, you have searched me and known me! Psa 139:7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?

Worship in spirit Worship him with your heart Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Worship Him wholeheartedly Before worshiping, prepare your heart to worship During worship, don t be distracted After worship, continue to think about God's word
Worship in truth Worship God in the truth revealed by Jesus Christ Jesus is the truth, worship God in Jesus Christ Worship God according to the truth of the Bible What we preach in worship is the Word of God.
