  2. WHY TEACH ON IT? Firstly, it is in the Bible Jesus teaches on hell more than any other biblical author Demonstrates the characteristics of God People will be shocked they are in hell

FALSE TEACHINGS ON HELL Universalism = Everyone will eventually be saved and given eternal life in the new heaven and new earth Annihilationism = Those who are not saved will be eliminated and cease to exist Non-Christians = in hell they will be united with their friends, and life will be an endless party

  4. WHAT IS HELL? It is the place for the unbeliever Hell is permanent (Luke 16:24-26) Hell is eternal (Matt 25:41-46; 2 Thess 1:7-10)

  5. Hell is a place of conscious torment (Luke 16:19- 31; Mark 9:42-48) There is no fellowship a place of misery, anguish and loneliness Hell weeping and gnashing of teeth, lake of fire, utter darkness, everlasting punishment, no relief, place of torment

  6. WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE HELL IS REAL? Gives us an insight into God s justice and holiness Shows us the wickedness of sin Demonstrates just how much God loved us in sending Jesus

  7. Reminds us that the decisions we make in this life will affect where we spend eternity It calls for urgency in our evangelism Jesus really is the greatest gift

  8. SUMMARY There are many false views on hell, but we must always come back to God s Word Hell is a place of eternal conscious torment Hell reminds us that Jesus is our only hope
