Mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, and dementia affect a significant portion of the population in India. The National Mental Health Survey highlighted the prevalence of these conditions and the need for intervention. The District Mental Health Program aims to provide essential mental health services to the community, including early detection, treatment, and integration with general health services. Core components of the program involve human resource support, training, community awareness, and inter-sectoral linkages. Various services are provided under the program at different levels of healthcare facilities.
