Understanding Models of Sustainable Development in Environmental Engineering
Models of sustainable development play a crucial role in enhancing our comprehension of sustainability concepts, facilitating information gathering, analysis, and coordination, as well as educating professionals, policymakers, and the general public. The Three Pillar Basic Model is one of the renowned models, emphasizing the interplay between economy, environment, and society, represented as People, Planet, and Profits respectively. Poorly managed practices, such as logging, can result in significant long-term losses, including income, biodiversity, and carbon absorption capacity.

MODELS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT MODELS HELP US UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPTS OF SUSTAINABILITY BETTER, HELPS US GATHER, SHEAR, AND ANALYZE INFORMATION; THEY HELP COORDINATING WORK, AND EDUCATE AND TRAIN PROFESSIONALS, POLICYMAKERS, AND THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL.
MODELS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT 1. THREE PILLAR BASIC MODEL 2. THE EGG OF SUSTAINABILITY MODEL 3. ATKINSON S PYRAMID MODEL 4. THE AMOEBA MODEL:
THREE PILLAR BASIC MODEL THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS MODELS CREATED USING THE THREE DIMENSIONS: ECONOMY, ENVIRONMENT, AND SOCIETY. These three pillars are also known as the 3 P s: People (Social) Planet (Environment) Profits (Economy)
Three Pillar Basic Model This model can be displayed in another way,
THREE PILLAR BASIC MODEL IF POORLY-MANAGED LOGGING LEADS TO THE DEPLETION OF A FOREST IN THE INTEREST OF IMMEDIATE PROFIT, THEN THE OVERALL RESULT IS ACTUALLY A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS: LOSS OF INCOME OVER THE LONG TERM, LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY, LOSS OF CAPACITY TO ABSORB CARBON DIOXIDE, AMONG OTHER THINGS
