THE SUPREMACY OF GOD
MEMORY VERSE "For the Lord most high is terrible; He is a great King over all the earth." Psalm 47:2
INTRODUCTION "Supremacy" means dominant, having power and authority over all others. God's supremacy means that He is the greatest, highest, most excellent, most superior and has power and authority everything. over everybody and The story was told of a man who was very rich. He so trusted in his wealth that he had no time for God.
INTRODUCTION CONTD. A time came when he became sick with a very deadly disease and was taken to a specialist hospital. He was unconscious for some days and the doctors had to sustain him through artificial oxygen. God in His infinite grace and mercy made him to come back to life. However, the hospital bill was very high and the man wept bitterly.
INTRODUCTION CONTD. The people around were surprised and asked if the rich man was crying because he couldn't pay the bill. The rich man stopped crying and said, "Oh! What a foolish and ungrateful man I am. I felt I was too great and wealthy to acknowledge God and be ruled by Him. See how much I have to pay for the man-made oxygen and care given to me for less than a week! These and more are what God gives me freely, yet I foolishly didn't acknowledge His goodness and greatness." The rich man thereafter repented, accepted Jesus and surrendered to the lordship of Christ. His life changed and he lived the rest of his life in total obedience and loyalty to the supreme God. You are called to surrender your life to God so He can rule over you.

1. THE DESCRIPTION OF GOD'S EXCELLENT GREATNESS Psalm 46:1-11; 47:1-9; 48:1-14 The Almighty God is the Creator of all things. His greatness is manifested in these three major attributes: a) He is Omnipotent: He has all power and authority so He can do all things (Job 42:2). b) He is Omniscient: He knows all things (Psalm 139:1-3). c) He is Omnipresent: He is everywhere at the same time (Psalm 139:7-12). There is no one on earth that can do all things, that knows everything and can be everywhere at the same time. No, not one! That is why God is supreme.

THE DESCRIPTION OF GOD'S EXCELLENT GREATNESS CONT'D Psalm 46-48 highlight God's supremacy thus: a) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. b) God is like a great River that supplies all our needs and makes us glad. c) God is the Lord of host. He is so great that He has the power to stop wars and destroy the most powerful weapons. Friends of Jesus should not fear world were to crumble, and great troubles were to arise. We should put our confidence in God's ability to save us (Psalm 46:2, 5, 11). even if the

THE DESCRIPTION OF GOD'S EXCELLENT GREATNESS CONT'D The description of God's greatness can be summarized under the a-z titles of his greatness: A- Alpha and Omega, B- Blameless Burden Bearer, C- Counsellor, D- Deliverer, E- Eternal God, F- Faithful Father, G- Glorious God, H- Holy, I- Immortal, Invisible but Invincible, J- Just Judge, K- King of Kings, L- Lord of Lords, M- Most High, N- The Noblest, O- Overseer of the Whole Universe, P- Provider, Q- Quiet Listener to Every Conversation, R- Ruler of the Regents, S- Sovereign Lord and Saviour, T- Truth Personified, U- Unchanging, V- Victorious, W- The Wisest, X- Excellent Lord, Y- Yoke Breaker, Z- Zeal of Righteousness. Our great God, calls all His children to come under His supreme authority. You must answer the call as you repent, turn away from sin and accept Jesus as your Saviour and Lord.
2. THE DEMONSTRATION OF GOD'S EXCEEDING GREATNESS: Psalm 46:1-11; 47:3-9; 48:7-10; 49:15; 50:1-23; 52:5 God is not like the kings of this world who are limited in their power and authority. He demonstrates His exceeding greatness by His past, present and future actions. That is why Psalm 48:10 reveals that"According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness..." In the past, God demonstrated His exceeding greatness in many ways: a) In creation: He created the Heaven and the Earth out of nothing (Genesis 1:1). b) In conquest: He drowned Pharoah and his army in the Red Sea (Exodus 14). c) In His compassion, He gave His only begotten Son to die on the cross for the world (John 3:16). d) Deliverance: He delivered the three Hebrew children from the furnace of fire (Daniel 3:16-28) and many other saints.
2. THE GREATNESS CONT'D e) Provision: He fed millions of the children of Israel in the wilderness for forty years (Deut. 2:7; 8:3-4). DEMONSTRATION OF GOD'S EXCEEDING f) Salvation: He saved the greatest of all sinners and changed his life- Apostle Paul (1 Timothy 1:15). God still demonstrates His supremacy today through healing, deliverances, provision, salvation, sanctification and Holy Ghost baptism. preservation, protection, You must make it a habit to always praise and adore God who rules and reigns over all the earth.
3. THE DELIGHT IN KNOWING THE MOST HIGH AS OUR GOD: Psalm 46:1-11; 47:1-9; 48:1-2; 50:14-15 There is great joy, pleasure and prestige in knowing and having the Most High as our God. He gives victory, joy, success, health, promotion, provision and eternal life. Children who are still doing bad things do not know God. Those who are still stealing, fighting, lying and abusing others are strangers to God. To know God, you must take the following steps: i. Realize that you are a sinner. ii. Acknowledge your sins. iii.Confess them to God and ask Him to forgive you and wash your heart clean with the blood of Jesus. iv.Forsake all those sins and turn to God. v. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
3. THE DELIGHT IN KNOWING THE MOST HIGH AS OUR GOD CONT D. Finally, the knowledge of God's supremacy should make friends of Jesus to trust Him fully and rejoice greatly because God himself is their portion forever. Jesus has done what the richest of the world could not do for us, therefore, we should count Him dearer than all worldly things. You must continue to daily live your life to please and honour Him. As you pray every day, read your Bible, meditate on its precepts and obey all the commandments. By so doing, you shall live happy and prosperous life. Let us pray!
