Preventive measures of dampness Filling of joints in drainage system with cement mortar Educate public for usage of toilet Avoid weak lekages in building Proper curing Joint should be leak proof Terrace is not provided with sill water enter through staircase Water proofing to terrace Good design of floor slab Reilief valves at suitable places Slope of terrace slab
Water proofing to flat roof Finishing should be done at laying of concrete Provide a layer of concrete over RCC slab Use of mastic asphalt and jute cloth Use of water proofing compounds
Materials used for damp proofing Hot bitumen-applied with min thickness of 3mm Mastic asphalt-is good impervious material laid by experienced men Bituminous felts- flexible material, lays in normal width Metal sheets- sheets of copper, aluminium ,lead used as damp proofing.
