  3. Bias and prejudice defined Bias - an individual s internalized, but often unrealized, preferences or assumptions about a group of people.

  4. Bias and prejudice defined Prejudice an irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race or religion. It may cause us to judge prematurely and irrationally.

  5. Bias and preconceptions Implicit bias (or prejudice) - Attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, decision making, and behavior, without even realizing it

  6. Bias and preconceptions It is our responsibility as judges to become aware of our distinct perspective(s) on issues and to develop methods for keeping them in check.
