  1. FOUNDATIONS OF OUR FAITH Reviewing The Basics of Christianity

  2. The Basics of Christianity (Heb 6:1-3) 1Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits.

  3. The Basics of Christianity (Heb 6:1-3) 1.The doctrine of Christ 2.The doctrine of repentance from dead works and faith toward God 3.The doctrine of baptisms 4.The doctrine of laying on of hands 5.The doctrine of resurrection of the dead 6.The doctrine of eternal judgment

  4. The doctrine of Christ Christ is a title Christ is synonymous with Messiah Messiah means The Anointed One Anointing was done by pouring oil on a person who was being set apart, and empowered by God for a special work The oil was symbolic of the Holy Spirit who manifests the power of God

  5. The doctrine of Christ The Anointed One (a) Jesus Christ was indeed anointed Matthew 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.

  6. The doctrine of Christ The Anointed One (b) Luke 4:17-18 He found the place where it is written: 18 The spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the good news . . . Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil

  7. The doctrine of Christ Why empower God? (a) Jesus was God in the flesh John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us

  8. The doctrine of Christ Why empower God? (b) Philippians 2:6-8 who (Christ Jesus), being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death

  9. The doctrine of Christ Why Jesus became a Man (a) Romans 5:18-19 Therefore, as through one man s offense judgment came to all men resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man s righteous act the free gift came to all men resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man s obedience many will be made righteous.

  10. The doctrine of Christ Why Jesus became a Man (b) Hebrews 10:5-7 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. 7 Then I said, Behold I have come . . . To do Your will, O God.

  11. The doctrine of Christ Why Jesus became a Man (c) Hebrews 4:15 (Jesus) was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him

  12. The doctrine of Christ He rose from the dead 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures

  13. The doctrine of Christ He ascended to heaven and will return Acts 1:10-11 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.

  14. The doctrine of Christ He will restore all things Acts 3:21 whom (Jesus) heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
