Sample Email Hi. My name is .. I am going to be a senior in the Troy Tech Magnet Program at Troy High School and I am looking for a summer internship. I am very interested in considering a career in your field. The Troy Tech Internship Program is 150 volunteer hours; the students earn school credit for the experience. The program begins the week of May 30, 2017 and continues until the hours are completed - no later than July 19, 2017. Students volunteer for 20-40 hours each week as arranged by the mentor. I have attached my resume. If you have or know of a colleague who would have an internship opportunity, please let me know. Thank you. Notes: Be sure to check your email. For research internships, you should take the time to review the professor s research summary online. In your first email, explain how your interests connect to the research. Do NOT email emeritus professors; this means they have retired and are not actively researching. After sending the above email, wait a week and then send a follow up. Reply all so that your original message is included. I wanted to follow up on my original email. I am actively looking for internship placements and wanted to know if your site would be a possibility. Thank you so much for your time.
