Activities affected by the
Transitional Arrangements
Currently all IPPU categories will be affected
2A - Mineral Industry
2B - Chemical Industry
Note Hydrogen that was added as a separate category under 2B8g
2C - Metal Industry
Side note: when you register for ANY category, you need to report the rest
as well, i.e. if for ceramics, then the energy as well and vice versa.

Activities affected by the Transitional Arrangements
Expectations
Data providers should use Tier 2 emissions factors, where available (currently
we do not have any in South Africa).
If a Tier 2 emission factor is not available, a Tier 3 method must be used.
All Tier 3 estimates must be accompanied by the necessary supporting
documents.
Direct
 emission measurements
Carbon
 balance
Process flow sheet
 (with reporting boundaries)
Calculations
Expectations
Newly published Methodological Guidelines – 2022
NB. Section 7, Methodology
Table 7.1 Standard measurement methods for exhaust gases
Note updates in some of the categories, i.e. Hydrogen Production, etc.
Note on analyses:
Must be representative of the process (and all process conditions)
Only valid for one calendar year
In line with Air Emission License
See Table 7.1

Activities in various industries such as Mineral, Chemical, Metal, and more are affected by the Transitional Arrangements presented in the workshop. Data providers are expected to use Tier 2 emissions factors and follow newly published Methodological Guidelines for accurate reporting. The workshop outlines specific IPCC codes and expectations for reporting emissions factors and methods.
