3 September 24, 2024 The Decline The forest sector in NL has been in a slow decline for several decades, collapsing dramatically since 2006. Contribution to GDP peaked at 3.1% in 1995, averaged 2.4% and is currently < 0.5% Dollar value peaked at $309 Million in 2005 and is currently $250 Million. 1 newsprint mill, 5 significant integrated sawmills and number of mom and pop enterprises Centre for Forest Science and Innovation
