Communion of the Renewed and Renovated Minds Romans 12:2; Colossians 3:10-14; Ephesians 4:17-20
Transformation [3339] metamorphoo means to transfigure
Believers are to transfigure as Jesus transfigured.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 ESV
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. Romans 12:3 ESV
Renewal is ankainoseos [342] which can also be translated renovation.
Mind [3563] nous. The seat of ones emotions and affections, the mode of thinking and feeling, one s disposition, moral inclination, equivalent to the heart.
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11 ESV
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 1 Corinthians 6:19 ESV
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:24 25 ESV
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44 ESV
To love those who hate you, you need someone whose name is Jesus. -Yassir
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16 17 ESV
He saved us not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5 HCSB
That is not the way you learned Christ! For surely you have heard about him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus. Ephesians 4:20 21 NRSV
You were taught to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, Ephesians 4:22 23 NRSV
and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24 NRSV
Now this I affirm and insist on in the Lord: you must no longer live as the Gentiles live, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance and hardness of heart. Ephesians 4:17 18 NRSV
They have lost all sensitivity and have abandoned themselves to licentiousness, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. That is not the way you learned Christ! Ephesians 4:19 20 NRSV
Sensitivity [524] apalg to be void of feeling past honor or shame.
The Believer needs to be constantly washed in the Word because we become insensitive to the grace of Jesus.
My sensitivity is directly related to: the amount of dust on my Bible the amount of time spent with the Spirit of God the amount of time spent following the ways of the world.
Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. In this new life, it doesn t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. Colossians 3:10 11 NLT
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:12 14 NLT
The easy task is embracing Gods grace and faith in Jesus, the hard work is staying in communion with Him.
How much transforming activity are you engaged in?
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. Romans 1:18 ESV
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. Romans 1:28 ESV
But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 ESV
Man looks for and models himself after a King Saul, but God values a man like David, who had a heart after God s own.
When he has taken the throne of his kingdom, he shall have a copy of this law written for him in the presence of the levitical priests. Deuteronomy 17:18 NRSV
It shall remain with him and he shall read in it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, diligently observing all the words of this law and these statutes, Deuteronomy 17:19 NRSV
that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel. Deuteronomy 17:20 ESV
The Communion of the Saved are committed to being renewed and renovated by God.
Every Christian is either a conformer or a transformer, living for and/or like the world, or becoming more like Christ.
I can only be transformed if I am conforming to the Word and will of God, by following, actively submitting to the Holy Spirit.
