The Happy Counter- Cultural Community Matthew 5:1-12
Main Idea: The Gospel of His Kingdom produces a counter-cultural way of life
The New Moses (Matt. 5:1-2) Seeing the crowds, He went up on the mountain, and when He sat down, His disciples came to Him. And He opened His mouth and taught then, saying:
Matt. 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the Cross I cling!
Matt. 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted Godly sorrow over sin in you and around you will lead to divine comfort!
Matt. 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth It will take eyes of faith to see that those who reject the things of this Fallen World will get the things of the Renewed One
Matt. 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied
Matt. 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy Jesus gives a radical new way of life One that He will fully demonstrate on the Calvary Road
Matt. 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God Beloved, we are God s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is (1 John 3:2)
Matt. 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God Ministers of reconciliation who get the inheritance of the Firstborn son
Matt. 5:10-12 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
