The understanding and operation of the
gifts of the Spirit is an important aspect of
world evangelism.
By the equipping of the gifts of the Spirit,
the Lord Jesus has empowered His church
to advance His Kingdom throughout the
world.
When the gifts of the Spirit are in operation,
God Himself is at work. So much can be
accomplished in the expansion of the
Kingdom of God.

The Apostle Paul tells us that there are
diversities of gifts.
This means that God has equipped His
church with different spiritual gifts.
These multiple gifts can be viewed in three
different categories:

You can speak words or make declarations
on behalf of a person, object, or situation.
Elijah’s word controlled the rain and the
dew (I Kings 17:1; 18:41-45; James 5:16-
18).
You can speak words to a person, object,
or situation on behalf of God. Joshua
spoke to the sun and the moon (Joshua
10:12-14).
Jesus spoke to a fig tree, and it dried (Mark
11:12-14, 20-24). Jesus said that we could
speak to a mountain (Matthew 17:20).

Jesus calmed the storm (Mark 4:39-41).
Jesus raised the widow’s son (Luke 7:12-15).

9:40).
Paul commanded a spirit of divination to
leave a young woman (Acts 16:16-18).

This spiritual gift is actually the gifts (plural)
of healing. This is important to recognize, for
there may be different gifts for various
sicknesses and diseases.
Some can be gifted in the healing of specific
problems, for example, deafness, blindness,
back problems, etc.. It is possible that a
person with a gift in one area could have
less success in another area.
While there are similarities between
healings and miracles, there are also
important differences.

In many cases, miracles have some
similarities to healings. However, they go
beyond healings.
They may involve the replacement of a body
part that is missing, or a visible and almost
instantaneous change in the body.
Sometimes a miracle may not involve a
human body at all. It may involve an object,
like the fig tree that Jesus cursed, or the sun
and moon Joshua commanded to stand still,
or a situation which is in need of divine
intervention.

Miracles are works contrary to the natural order
of things; they are supernatural works of God.
They are the “impossible” made “possible”.
They involve sudden reversals of the order of
how things were.
When God works a miracle, He does something
different than what is normal.
For example, it is God who causes wheat to
grow to produce bread. But when Jesus
multiplied the loaves of bread, it was a miracle
because the bread was produced in a way that
was not normal.

In the bible we see that special miracles
were worked by the hands of Paul (Acts
19:11-12).
This involved handkerchiefs or aprons
taken from his body and placed on those
who were afflicted, resulting in diseases
departing and evil spirits going out of them.
It was clearly a miracle when Jesus turned
the water into wine (John 2:6-11).
In most cases miracles defy all natural
laws.

And God hath set some in the church, first
apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly
teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of
healings, helps, governments, diversities of
tongues.
As powerful as the gift of working of
miracles is, its place is after the ministry of
apostles, prophets, and teachers.
This is not at all to belittle the gift, but to
show that it is to be operated in submission
to the spiritual authority of the church.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 12 verses 5 and 6, Paul
says that there are differences of administrations
and diversities of operations of spiritual gifts.
In his writing, Paul emphasizes the diversity of
spiritual gifts that God has placed in His church.
This means that every individual in the body of
Christ has received at least one gift with a unique
operation.
The keys to knowing your spiritual gift are found in
Philippians 2:13:
For it is God which worketh in
you both to

There are two keys to knowing your
spiritual gift. Paul tells us that it is God who
works in us both to
will
and to
do
.

The word
will
in this verse means
desire
.
The first step in discovering your
spiritual gift starts with identifying the
desire that God has placed in your
heart.
2.
Paul also tells us that it is God who
works in us to
do
. This means that God
will give us the ability to operate in our
spiritual gift.

The key to discovering your spiritual gift is
to know the desire that the Holy Spirit has
placed in your heart.
If we are sensitive and obedient to the
leading of the Holy Spirit, when we step
out in faith and begin to exercise that gift,
we are going to see results.
The more we exercise our gifts, the more
confident and effective we will become in
the operation of our gift.

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that
thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by
the putting on of my hands.

According to Paul fear is the biggest reason
why many brethren don’t exercise their
spiritual gifts.
They fear the unknown, criticism and
failure, what if nothing happens!

In the operation of the gifts of the Spirit,
we should never compare our gifts with
the gifts that God has given other
members of the body of Christ.
We should never imitate how others
operate their spiritual gifts.
We should seek to identify our gift and
learn to operate our gift according to the
leading of the Holy Spirit.

Understanding the diversity of gifts The Apostle Paul tells us that there are diversities of gifts. Spiritual Gifts This means that God has equipped His church with different spiritual gifts. These multiple gifts can be viewed in three different categories: 1. Supernatural gifts 2. Gifts of service 3. Equipping gifts
Supernatural gifts (9 gifts) 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 Spiritual Gifts 8For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
