  1. Mekauma Mekauma ( (Hachigoro s Promotion)

  2. In this world there is a term called promotion, there are many opportunities of getting promoted.

  3. Back in the days that were not that many chances.

  4. You were born into your social status and it was hard to get out of those classes, especially becoming a samurai.

  5. Samurais took up 70% of the streets and 30% were other classes. Ancient rakugo story tellers had to crawl through the ditches.

  6. But it wasnt that people had no way of getting promoted.

  7. One way was to be become a mistress of a lord and give birth to the first baby boy.

  8. Main story begins.

  9. Ooya (landlord): Oh! There you are! Where have you been all this time? Hachigoro: Sorry I m late.

  10. Where have you been? Some of the guys and I decided to gamble a little. What s the important news?

  11. You guys! Every little time you get, turns into gambling anyways, your mistress sister Otsuru she has done it

  12. Did she steal something and run away? No, she had Oyotori (a baby boy).

  13. Oh wow! That sucks! But just cuz I m her brother I can t have em come to me. Well, I guess that s how it goes if she birthed Niwatori (a chicken).

  14. Not a chicken. A child. An owl? No! A baby boy. Well, Gosh darn it she did it, huh?!

  15. What are you talking about? It s a baby boy. The lord is ecstatic with this happy news.

  16. He found out that Otsuru has a brother and would like to meet with you. The messenger just left. You have to get ready to meet the lord.

  17. Oh! Come on!! I dont do things like that! I can t go hang with the lord!

  18. Hang with the lord?... Anyways, he would like to meet with you. There s no disadvantage to that.

  19. No disadvantage, then what? Well, if everything goes well it may lead to

  20. Lead to what? I can be a samurai? That would be amazing! If I became a samurai there s always one thing I always wanted to do.

  21. Whats that? You rude bastard! And cut my landlord with my sword.

  22. You stupid! What would you get out of cutting me? I m sure there is some sort of compensation.

  23. Whats that compensation you say? I mean receiving a payment.

  24. Payment? Money? I would appreciate that! Lately, I m broke. I wonder how much he d give me?

  25. Well, he is the lord, so I would think at least 3 of them. Oh! 3 of them would be 3ryo ($2000)

  26. What are you talking about? Its about 300 ryo ($200,000) 300 ryo! Well then, I m on my way!

  27. Just wait a minute. You cant go looking like that! You have to wear the right attire when you go meet someone in high society.

  28. Knowing you Im sure you dont own anything of that proper clothing.

  29. No, thats not true! It s not high class but I have one of those.

  30. Oh! Really? And where is it? You see the chest behind you? It s in the 3rd drawer from the top.

  31. What? No, thats mine! Yea! And I m going to borrow it!

  32. Wait a minute! How did you know it s in the 3rd drawer? Well. When you were gone the other day, I sneaked in and found it.

  33. Youre such a rascal! Ba-san (wife), we need to be careful with these kinds of guys.

  34. Well, its for a good cause. Ba-san let him borrow it and get him a clean kimono and obi too. Take off the dirty kimono and change into this.

  35. Ba-san, look at him! Anyone can look good in the right clothes, huh? So, do you know where you re going?

  36. When you go to the palace youll meet with the gate security. When he asks where you are going, tell him you are going to the Ohiroshiki (the grand room).

  37. When they ask who you are coming to visit tell them Tanaka Sandayu-sama. Tanaka-sama is the high executive there, listen to him and there should be no troubles.

  38. Oh, ok!

  39. You must speak cordially there. Wha?? Naw! It s all good! I ll just say whatever!

  40. Im going to teach you something. At the beginning of a word start with O and end the sentence with tatematsuru that s how you sound more cordial.

  41. Ok! So just remember otatematsuru right?

  42. What is that gibberish? Just be careful.

  43. Alright, Ill be on my way.. Oh yea, can I borrow your zouri sandals? You have your geta sandals.

  44. Well, I dont have em. What do you mean you don t have them?

  45. Well 3 days ago I was walking and I broke em. So since then I ve been walking around barefoot. Your feet must be dirty then.

  46. No theyre actually clean cuz, I end up washing my feet before going in the house but I forgot to wash em now.

  47. Such a filthy guy, mine are there so just use them for today. Just remember, don t be disrespectful and be careful.

  48. Okay, okay! I got it! He s so annoying but I have to admit, he does worry about me. I gotta be thankful for that. He s like a father figure.
