Teachers As Role Models
Teachers As Role Models

Teachers
 are founts of experience.
They have already been where their
students are going

 along lessons
;
 not
only regarding subject matter, but
lessons on life

A role
model is a person who inspires and encourages us to strive for
greatness
 .

A role
model is someone we admire and someone we aspire to
be like.
We look to them for advice and guidance.

A role
model can be anybody: a parent, a sibling, a friend but some of our
most influential and life-changing role models are
teachers.

At six to eight hours a day, five days a week,
We
as a teacher are poised to
become one of the most influential people in
our
 students’ li
ves
.
After their parents, children will first learn from
us
,
as
their elementary
school teacher. Then, as a middle school teacher,
we
 will guide students
throug
h their education lives.
As children become young adults, learning throughout middle school and
into high school,
we
will answer their questions, listen to their problems
and teach them about t
he
 new phase
s
 of their lives.
We
 not only watch
our
 students grow
,

we
 help them grow.

Motıvate Students to share their problems

Students look to teachers for approval and positive reinforcement
.

We
should encourage open communication and free thinking with
our
students to make them feel important.
 If
 our
classroom is a friendly place where students feel heard and
respected, they will be more eager to learn.
Despite much discussion concerning the nature of workplace stress, our
job
s
are getting more and not less stressful.

  In Turkish Education ,three is a « 6 - S rules « that a teacher must have
in his personality to use for students: Sevgi(Love),Saygı (Respect )
,Sabır( Patience),Sadakat (faith) , Sempati(sympathy) and Sagduyu
(foreseing)
By using one or a few of them ,a teacher should catch any problem with
the student . Or else the students create some visible problem-like
behaviours to give the message to be realized and felt. :
They might create different repeated actions like, coughing ,sleeping on
the desk , laughing everything nonsence, and trying to make the
teacher angry but his message is again ‘ please see /feel me that I have
some problems for your help..

They might
create agression ,
show the problem of controlling anger for their clasmates.
leave completely blank/empty exam sheet means again for the same
message , « please help me »
keep too calm and silent or
 show fast changable mood.

The PCG Services
at our school.

On this point I had a short interview with the expert of Psychological
Counc
e
ling and Guidance Service, and she told me that
  as
a role model
the students would prefere reflect about their problems using one above.
when a teacher meet one of the above messages, he
 should create a face
to face dialogue with the psychological demanding student and
he
 should
start a warm and efficient listening
,
to understand the basis of the
problem
  whether
 it’s
 a
family, health or school based
 problem.
    We
usually start with ‘ you don’t look well recently, you look tired and
I’m worried about you. Could I help you?’
We

 should
 listen to them and
then begin to ask basic questions about his/her parents,

health, school
subjects etc. to try to find the reason.

And if the problem is
 too
serious for us to help we (the teachers)
should
tell about the students to the PCG Service.

The service invites the students for face to face councelling. They invite or
contact to the parents on phone to learn if the student has any health
problems since the birth.

If the problem goes beyond the PCG Service they persuade the family
 to
contact a psychiatrist or an expert psycholog at a hospital. Then the
duration goes on in form of trivet until the happy end.

Teachers play a crucial role in students' lives as role models, guiding them through challenges both academically and emotionally. They are sources of inspiration, encouragement, and wisdom. However, the teaching profession comes with its own set of stressors, ranging from motivating unmotivated students to managing workload and coping with change. By fostering open communication and creating a positive learning environment, teachers can make a significant impact on students' growth and development.

  • Teacher stress
  • Role model
  • Student inspiration
  • Classroom management
  • Education guidance
