Statutory Moderation 2016 The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) will soon publish statutory moderation guidance to Local Authorities, including exemplification materials Schools will be contacted after half term regarding the recruitment and training of moderators Statutory moderation will take place at Key Stage 1 for reading, writing and mathematics and at Key Stage 2 for writing Moderators will discuss teacher assessment outcomes based on the new language used in the Interim Teacher Assessment Frameworks at the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Assessment 2016 The Interim Teacher Assessment Frameworks at the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 are likely to become the national standards for moderators and schools to use at the end of the Key Stages. They are not intended to be used to track progress throughout the Key Stages. At Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, scaled scores will be used to report national curriculum test outcomes. A scaled score of 100 will represent the expected standard . Conversion tables will be available from the beginning of June 2016. Teachers will be able to translate pupils raw scores to see if the required standard has been met. Schools should not attempt to define the 100 child until statutory assessments have been completed.
Changes for 2016 Key Stage 1 tests will take place in May 2016, there are no set days A number of schools will be chosen by STA to administer the tests in April to inform standard setting. If selected, participation is statutory There is no longer a writing test 2007 and 2009 test and task materials must not be used to inform teacher assessment judgements Test outcomes need to be converted to scaled scores, not levels There may be a requirement to conduct checks for the administration of the tests and the security of the test materials as for the Phonics Screening Check in Y1 and the Key Stage 2 tests At Key Stage 2, there will be one set of tests per subject The arithmetic test replaces the mental mathematics test Science sampling will take place this year. If a cohort sample is selected, participation is statutory
