Engage in a series of art activities focusing on visual elements and observational drawing. Tasks include researching visual elements such as line, shape, form, tone, colour, texture, and pattern. S1&2 ART Home Learning Please use this guide to follow for any home learning tasks all tasks can be completed by both year groups but there are indicators in the top right corner of what year we expect to complete each task. Pupils can work their way through each of the tasks and drawing practice always helps

  2. Task 1 S1 Visual elements research. Use the BBC bitesize website or google to find out about the 7 visual elements of Art. Line Shape Form Tone Colour Texture Pattern You should write a definition for each element and give an example. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zgmmk2p

  3. Task 2 S1 Observational Drawing Drawing of your favourite mug using only a pencils to show areas of dark and light. Don t forget to use ellipses to show a 3d shape and form. Maybe use a rubber to show shiny highlights too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v =PfvK2R5vKaU

  8. Task 7 S1 Observational Drawing Coloured pencil drawing of crisp packet. Choose your favourite flavour Try and show some of the bumpy shapes. Maybe use a rubber to show shiny highlights too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v =75w0Vy1stKY

  9. Task 8 S1 Observational Drawing Coloured pencil drawing of toothpaste tube. Sometimes they are squeeeeeeezed out of shape look at the twists and the lines to help you with this task. Don t forget shadows to help with 3D form. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v =ppc-jbYQvwU

Task 9 S1 Observational Drawing Tonal pencil drawing of kitchen utensil (this could be a fork, spoon, ladle etc) These are usually made of metal which makes them shiny too use a tonal scale to help show you where the shadows and the highlights are. https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=d-Jn2ZGFJbY

  11. Task 10 S1 Research Favourite Artwork You should research some artworks in the library/books or online. Choose one artwork/artist that you like. Try to recreate that artwork in your sketchbook. Choose 3 describing words for the artwork and give 1 reason why you like it.

  12. Task 1 S2 Observational Drawing Coloured pencil drawing of 3D box. Use perspective techniques that you have learned in class and shade your box using colour or grey pencil to show a light source and shadow. https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=STAg2ePg8lI

  13. Task 2 S2 Research Pop Art You should research the style of Pop Art and use 3 words to describe it. Make these words eye catching and try to show the style of Pop art throughout.

  15. Task 4 S2 Observational Drawing Tonal pencil drawing of a kettle/ teapot with reflections. Remember to show highlights and shadows and if the shape is round don t forget about ellipses to start with the shape.   16. Task 5 S2 Observational Drawing Coloured pencil drawing of your favourite cake/biscuit/sweet. It should look extra tasty!! You might want to make use of bright colours and mark making to show the textures of the cake/wrapper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v =akhZqBZGi_o

  17. Task 6 S2 Observational Drawing Pencil drawing of 3 pencil case objects (eg pencil, sharpener, rubber). Try to show some 3D form by adding a shadow underneath. Don t forget to look out for simple shapes to help you structure your sketch.

  18. Task 7 S2 Observational Drawing Out of my window complete a drawing of the view out of your window. If there are different texture's like trees or a roof you can use different types of lines to show this.

  19. Task 8 S2 Observational Drawing Composition Tea towel and cup. Try to draw a tonal composition using some folded fabrics and reflective glass/cup. Think about how the fabric folds to show light and dark and how it will reflect on the glass surface. A tonal scale will help with this.

  20. Task 9 S2 Research Art Deco You should research the style of Art Deco and use 3 words to describe it. Make these words eye catching and try to show the style of Art Deco throughout.
