Epidemiology: Kidney Disease Kidney disease had affected 750 million people globally. (GBD 2015) End-stage renal disease (ESRD) refers to the terminal stage of various chronic kidney diseases. The total number of ESRD patients in China is about 220,000, which is a large number. ESRDonly be treated with a kidney transplant ordialysis.
Over 272,000 patients receive peritoneal dialysis worldwide. world. 1 Peritoneal dialysis is predicted to increase at a rate of 8% around the 2 Dialysis There are 326,000 dialysis patients in mainland China. 3 In China, 280,000 patients received hemodialysis.
